Redemption Advice - Tom Brady Five Star Auto (Baseball)
 

It's been 5 years sitting in my redemption queue. I've lost hope that it will get filled. He signed for the football product which came out AFTER but for whatever reason didn't sign this. I'd obviously rather have the card, but finally sent Topps an email last night asking what I could possibly get as replacement(s). The only comps I see are the 2014 Five Star Football autos that both sold north of $1000. What can I even expect in return? Since Topps hasn't had the football license in 5 years, they probably don't have any football replacements. Do I just go for Trout/Koufax type baseball guys? Can I ask them to get me a Brady auto from Panini? :cry:


If you don't know, Brady/Marino/Elway were all in the 2014 Five Star baseball release since they were all drafted at one point by MLB teams.

I wouldn't trust topps, they more than likely send you Clint Frazier and Kevin Ziomek autos.

Knowing Topps they will send you a $2 auto as replacement

IF they would let you choose between a few names then I’d consider a replacement. But if they are just going to send out something they think is an acceptable replacement, absolutely not!!!

Call and speak with someone. Ask them what value they would place on the card for a substitution. They will probably have to send you multiple cards even of top players like Trout to equal the value.

Yeah, no way I'm letting them just blindly choose for me. I'm fine getting multiple cards (with say $400+ value). I just can't even think of what they'd have in that category. I'm going to post on their Twitter today and if I don't get a reply from my original email by Monday, I guess I'll give them a call then.

Agree with other posts.. find out who/what you will get specifically, because that card would have been a monster.

I meant multiple cards with $400+ value. I'm expecting north of $1000, and from responses here and in the Football section, it seems like $1200-1500 is where it should be.

They loaded their last year of Products with redemptions that had zero chance of being fulfilled and were always going to be replaced by baseball backstock or expire.

How many Henry owens cards would you feel is an acceptable trade off?

Probably like 5000. I can trade in like 100 at a time to Blowout and whoever else takes junk autos for $1 each and eventually I'll have enough to go buy myself another Brady auto.

thats gonna be a hard pass. Thats a $400 card as a raw/psa 9 (not even a RC logo!)

My guess is they're trying to use this card for value comp, no thanks.

Base 7/10 BGS 9.5/10 - $880

I am interested in that Trout but comps on that are below the $850 so i would like something else added in.

The only two comps I see are:

Based on those, an ungraded dual relic /10 would probably be close to $600. Is there something else in the $200-300 range that can be added in to make up the difference?

Unfortunately we do not agree on the value of this card being $600.00. We do have this priced at the $850.00. We will not be adding additional cards to this offer.

If rejected we will have to replace the card with completely random cards for equal value. Please advise what you would like to do.

They should offer you more, but i doubt much. They have almost 0 incentive to.

I hope you do get something cool to sell.

Based on your latest exchange with them it sounds like you will be getting completely random cards of their choice. That really sucks for you!! Just not right at all.:rolleyes:

There is nothing to escalate to, and you will not win in negotiations for a replacement. They're covered and can legitimately send you whatever they choose as a replacement

File a complaint with the better business bureau. It wont do much but do it anyways. I still don't see how it is legal for Topps to give out IOU's and then not fulfill it. I decided two years ago to never redeem another redemption. IF I pull one Ill sell it even if its a card I want. Topps will try and screw us any chance they get.

I would just take the Trout and call it a day. Topps continually screws us collectors but they have a damn monopoly so we have no choice. They know people keep buying regardless of their customer service. Why would they change? They never have the intention of having these cards signed in the first place. It’s fraudulent in my opinion but you probably can’t prove it.
