Let's discuss vintage Nintendo and Super Nintendo thread!
What were your favorite games?
Any memories? The four games that sold it for me were Metriod. The music alone scared me as a kid. Mike Tyson`s Punchout. Played it for hours with friends. Super Mario Bros The Legend of Zelda the king for me. The AF#15 of Nintendo. |
Played lots of Zelda and Tyson punch out on NES. I collect NES, SNES and N64 now.
|
My favorite was super Mario world and super Mario all-stars. Played a lot of Nolan Ryan baseball and ncaa basketball. I remember playing home alone but could only get past the first few levels. Seems like games back then were a lot tougher to play than now days. I think I still have my system and games stored away. I'll probably bring it back out one day.
|
I loved the original NES. I played it countless hours over the years. Some of my favorite games were:
Super Mario Super Mario Brothers 3 Track & Field Track & Field II Metal Gear Mike Tyson’s Punch Out RBI Baseball Tecmo Baseball Tecmo Football Mickey Thompson’s Super Off-Road Racing Renegade Excitebike There were many that I am sure I have forgotten about. |
Have 3 kids so feel somewhat justified about holding on to my old N64, Gamecube, Sega Genesis and buying a nice refurb'ed NES many years ago.
With my video game bona fides established, I humbly submit both Rygar and Dodge Ball (NES) for the committee's consideration. |
Hands down my favorite games for NES were Double Dragon, Dragon Warrior, Final Fantasy, and probably John Elways quarterback. So many memories playing with family and it was my first true console experience. Somewhere along the way I lost my console but have since bought one of the retro consoles to be able to play all the games I managed to keep over the years. Every couple years I’ll plug it up and play some of each to relive the adventures and nostalgia.

Original Final Fantasy. God that kept me playing forever! And after I'd beaten it, again with other characters. :) Then Dragon Warrior, Super Mario Bros, Zelda, at my uncles we'd play excitebike, rc pro am, and a few others I can't think of offhand...
One I played quite a bit but don't know why...and I can't stand the thought of it now is Days of Thunder. Ugh....why...... |
Battletoads, Double Dragon, Ninja Gaiden and TMNT were some of my favorites. I always wanted a Game a Genie but was never able to get one.
|
I have a collection of around 100 NES games with the manual and sleeve.
Off the top of my head my favorites are: Super Mario 3 Mega Man 2 Contra Tetris Tecmo Bowl RBI Baseball TMNT Arcade Game Jackal Punch Out Marble Madness Double Dribble RC Pro Am |
Baseball Stars was the best. Dragon Warrior a close second.
|
When I had the Super Nintendo console,I loved Zelda,Frogger,Super Mario Bros.,Ms.Pacman,Donkey Kong...Zelda was my all-time favorite.
|
RBI baseball... Gotta use AL All stars and Sub in Big Mac as first batter tho for randolph!!
49 HR on the bench?! :) |
I still go through and beat Legend of Zelda about once a year.
|
River city ransom on the nes was always a great co-op.
|
I just bought an NES a few months ago and have loved the nostalgia trip. The console came with several of my favorites, and I've picked up others since then. Off the top of my head and in no particular order...
Super Mario Bros 1/2/3 Tetris Mike Tyson's Punch Out Double Dribble Legacy of the Wizard Yoshi Ninja Gaiden 1 & 2 (never played 3 but would love to pick up a copy) Silent Service Spiritual Warfare (think Legend of Zelda w/ a religious theme - it's weird but awesome) Are there any better places to buy from than eBay? There are several more that I would like to add to the collection. |

Super Nintendo-wise don't forget about Actraiser, Mario World, A Link To The Past, and many of the Marvel titles for that system too. So I went through a bit of a fit about two months back where for reasons xyz I wanted to rebuild a retro gaming collection of some kind. But I gave it some consideration and solved this problem pretty well... I had seen the information coming out about the very cool Analog Pocket. It was enticing because it played actual cartridges from a variety of sources. And I put that nonsense to bed really quickly after giving it a few days of consideration. Instead of rebuilding physical media I picked up an RG-350 which supports a variety of hardware and ROMS. Such a better fix. But if you have an attachment to the physical media of those generations that you can't let go the Analog Pocket is pretty amazing. |
Super Nintendo: Street Fighter II
|
Mega Man 2
OG Final Fantasy And Super Metroid Were and still are in my top 5 games of all time Other 2 are Diablo 2 and Team Fortress Classic if your wondering [emoji23] Sent from my KYOCERA-E6920 using Tapatalk |
The games were fun indeed but what stands out to me are the soundtracks. NES had some of the best ever. Super Mario, Ducktales, Finding Nemo, Blaster Master, Guardian Legend, Contra, Rescue Rangers, Castlevania and Mega Man 2 were my faves.

Anyone have the Japanese Famicom?
The Famicom Disk System Super Mario Bros 2 was awesome clear the game without using any warps 8 times and it unlocked super hard levels. Too bad the Disk System was never made in the US. |
Rc pro am
Excitebike Mega man Metroid Ikari warriors Kid icarus Castlevania Gradius |
As they say, you will never go wrong with the classics. As a matter of fact, Super Mario is one of the classics that will never go old! Also, how can we forget about Pokemon? as well as the Legend of Zelda. Remember the struggle of playing in the dark because there are no backlights? Well, definitely one of the best childhood memories. Do you guys have other recommended games? I think something with puzzles or a game wherein you need to explore and complete quests. Also, I also do hope to find games that are similar to the classics.
