PSA announces security chip embedded slabs coming soon
Joe Orlando just announced this on Twitter. The coin division is doing it first, and then the cards.

I don't think the slabs being counterfeit is the main problem...

Agreed. Not much problem with the slabs themselves but with what goes into the slabs. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

At all. I'm not familiar on the history, but were slabs being counterfeit before the lighthouse thing was added? I certainly haven't read anything on it as far as something to watch out for. Seems like they are making "progress" in the wrong places. |
Typical misdirection. I guess they think that solving a very minor problem will distract collectors from the much larger one.
And it's a way for them to increase revenue. |
It’s something at least. Now maybe this will be the first step to the online database and prevent cards from being resubbed many times.

That's hilarious, lets address the non-issue why don't we. Thanks Joe!

Aside from obvious deflection from the real issues, it does make you wonder............ |
Not sure if you guys realize this, but PCGS drives what CLCT does. PSA is a relative afterthought.

Like they know more than we do and there is a problem? |
Maybe when CU rolls this out to PSA they can hit two birds with one stone and put dimensions on the slabs when they receive cards to recase?
|
Look at this hand while my other one robs you. Clowns
|
I want slab dye-packs!!!
|
I like it. Good step forward.
Counterfeit cases were all the rage in the 00's. |

Asia is making fake BGS slabs and putting fake cards in them for basketball |
PSA ploy to make MORE money from collectors they consider and treat as born yesterday.
I can't wait for Joe Orlando to blame a small group of 10 feet tall keyboard warriors for lack of faith in PSA during FBI investiagtion and million+ outted as fraud. |
I'd love to hear what you guys think about this statement:
While buyers often want graded cards in order to feel secure in their purchase, the fact is that you are many, many, many times more likely to receive a trimmed (or otherwise altered) card if it's in a graded slab. |
Now I can rest secure in the fact my trimmed/altered card was actually graded by PSA and not some dude in mommy's basement.
