When resumed, NBA should skip regular season and jump straight into PLAYOFFS

Because of time restraint, I feel that when it's possible to restart, NBA should skip regular season and jump straight into PLAYOFFS.

If the time restraint is even worse, the conference Playoffs can be reduce to best of 5 , with the Finals best of 7.

This is better than cancelling the season altogether.

Thoughts?

hermanotarjeta 05-13-2020 09:58 AM

Lebron is the only one who wants that, he sees this year as the only time he can try to steal a championship, before curry and the warriors and Durant get back into the league.

Most all the other players want to cancel the season for safety reasons.

messier2 05-13-2020 09:59 AM

Zion investors will not be happy!

Ja investors will be ecstatic!

What a sad attempt at hating on LeBron. Try harder.

Sure there are teams that don't want to play if they are eliminated. Acting like this a LeBron thing is asinine.

"Sources: The NBPA has sent a memo to agents stating sense is players and NBA both want to finish the 2019-20 season — and informed reps of the players listed below serving on new committee working with the league on potential plans. https://t.co/fKC0hFiE1M

— Shams Charania (@ShamsCharania) May 13, 2020"

"Some of the NBA’s biggest superstars formed a united front to resume the 2019-20 season during a private conference call Monday, league sources told Yahoo Sports.

Chris Paul, the president of the players association, arranged the call that included LeBron James, Anthony Davis, Kevin Durant, Giannis Antetokounmpo, Kawhi Leonard, Stephen Curry, Damian Lillard and Russell Westbrook, sources said.

Toward the end of the call discussing the ramifications of the coronavirus pandemic, all parties were in agreement to take the court with proper safety measures once the league is given the green light to commence, sources said.

The majority of players who are essentially eliminated from postseason contention would rather the league start back up with the top eight teams in each conference competing in some sort of playoff, sources said"

I like how you used the term “steal a championship” as if he wasn’t having the best season he’s ever had. Dude was on a mission and it got derailed by something out of his control. Bron can’t catch a break. Keep hating

NoleinJax 05-13-2020 10:17 AM

Just give LeBron his trophy now. I just hope it comes with an asterisk.

PKIPP 05-13-2020 10:20 AM

Very interested to see how the rockets perform in the playoffs with a fully rested James harden.

The major knock has been that he carries the team so much during the reg season that he's too gassed to perform come playoff time.

I'm not sure I entirely buy that excuse, and I'm a harden fan.. He is one of my favorites.. But if that actually is the case.. Things could get interesting.

Haha, I was just thinking Bron boyz don’t wanna miss an opportunity for an asterisk championship at the expense of human lives.

I’m fine with it, just give him his ring without playing a full season or playoffs and change his career finals record to 3.5-6 all time.

The basic premise of your theory is ok, but let me frame it for you so you don't just appear to dislike Lebron

Lebron wants to finish this year for certain because at present, Lakers are nicely placed and odds on favorite. He is not getting any younger. I doubt many will be thrilled to take on the Warriors next season with Curry, Thompson + Antetokounmpo.

That’s a polite way to phrase it, or as one could say - Lebron’s window of opportunity is closing rapidly, thus his urgency to return to play.

Didn’t mean to sound like a Lebron critic.

Ok, yes I did, lol.

Kobe101 05-13-2020 10:51 AM

All the hate is crazy! You are on a basketball card forum and don’t want basketball to resume because you are scared Lebron will win again? SMH

Everyone got the same amount of rest and is going through the same thing I don’t see how he has any advantage. Giannis was banged up, Kawhi is always banged up, Paul George is banged up, Embiid ect the list goes on and everyone got to rest up and heal.

And please don’t tell me I am a Lebron lover. I am a Kobe guy... I don’t want Lebron to pass him in rings but I’m a basketball fan so of course I want it to resume.

cavsfan70 05-13-2020 10:54 AM

the Lakers were the number 1 seed.

What exactly are you "giving" LeBron?

You do know he's 35 right. He's earned every damn thing he's ever won. Let the hate flow.

JustinVerlander07 05-13-2020 10:56 AM

I don't know why everyone defaults that this helps the Lakers if they come back. I'd say it helps the Clippers more than anyone considering PG was injured, When him & Kawhi have both been on the court they are no doubt better than the Lakers.

Besides, Milwaukee might be better than both of them.

ksemmel 05-13-2020 10:56 AM

How do people turn this thread into a hate Lebron thread? smh

rustywest 05-13-2020 11:00 AM

Who said anything about hating Lebron?

JustinVerlander07 05-13-2020 11:01 AM

This thread was made for NYFanCam. Poor guy

rustywest 05-13-2020 11:05 AM

I would want to see 2 or 3 reg season games (a week) before kicking off the playoffs.

Yeah the hate is crazy. I agree that everyone got the same amount of rest.
Lakers worked hard to be the No.1 seed anyway.
Same thing with Bucks, they would be no. 1 seed in the east.

Due to time constraint, I feel it's fair to jump into Playoffs immediately.

bigjbasketball 05-13-2020 11:20 AM

People hating on LeBron are just trying to pull his card prices down because they can’t afford any at current market levels :D

But seriously, to try and say LeBron is trying to push for the season to restart so he can “steal” a title is crazy. If there’s any asterisk after this championship it’s because this is the craziest situation modern team sports has ever seen. And any player on a playoff team wants the playoffs to happen.

rustywest 05-13-2020 11:26 AM

Guys, just one member said something outlandish about Lebron and now we have 20 people spring in saying everybody hates Lebron. Ludicrous! But comical.

Kelper7 05-13-2020 11:30 AM

I just think it is getting to be too late to start it back up. How much conditioning will be needed before starting even a modified playoff? Season normally ends in early June. Wouldn’t the health of the players (new injury risk) be better served by shutting it down and having everyone get ready for a full 20-21 season? I know this affects non-player staff at all locations. That sucks. But it doesn’t sound like California is going to be available anytime soon. That affects your top two teams in the west. Where will they play? I just think logistics line up better by canceling the rest of 19-20, having the draft, and trying to be prepared properly for 20-21 camp.

It's too late. Shut it all down and start again next year.

Goodlander28 05-13-2020 11:42 AM

This virus spreads like wildfire on the court and in the locker room ... just ask Donovan Mitchell. Keep it shut. Sucks for crybaby LeBron but better luck next year.

Tnooky 05-13-2020 11:45 AM

They should do that bubble city idea at disney or in vegas. Read some articles about that, seems like a good idea.
