Bold Prediction featuring Zion Williamson
Zion Williamson Prizm Base PSA 10 will double from today's value of $600 up to $1,200 at it's peak by right around NBA Playoffs time
One big reason is his physical transformation (see below). He spent what looks like ALL of his quarantine adding muscle and dropping fat. This picture of him below says it all. This was a huge knock on Zion by most, justifiably so and in just a few months he has come a LONG way. Imagine what he will look like after another off-season at 20 years old next year. Couple of other reasons 1. His points per 36 minutes this year is 28.6ppg. We are talking like 5 guys who in the history of the NBA have done this their rookie year. Zion did it off a knee injury, fat, out of shape and coming back middle of year versus competition that was already in rhythm in middle of season. And still. He dominated. This unarguably one of the greatest rookie feats in the history of the NBA. 2. He has been on a minutes restriction all year because of the injury but with only 8 games left, he will likey get 36-40 minutes for these remaining games. At that rate, he will very likely score over 30 points per game. 3. The NBA completely rigged this playoff tie-breaker to get the Zion vs LeBron matchup. If the Pelicans are within 3 games of the Grizzlies then they will get a play-in game. If Zion and the Pelicans win that, his cards will explode with the upcoming Pelicans/Lakers series that will go down in history and no one will ever forget regardless of the outcome. Zion in two regular season games vs the Lakers averaged 32ppg. The Lakers are amazing defensively inside and they could not stop him. 4. There are many great players. And then there are great players who have SUPERHUMAN ability. Zion has that and now looks like a superhero to boot. 5. "Zion and the Pelicans were given the easiest schedule down the stretch even when you calculate it two different ways." Credit to Cboog3105 for pointing this one out. 6. Pelicans teammate Josh Hart said Zion Williamson's "shot looks better than it has in a while." Two things.... 1: What makes you think he's suddenly going to get this many minutes? As much as they want that play in, it's super risky to play him that much time after a 4 month layoff in which he's never played that much time 2. They have to be within 3 games AND in front of every other time below the 8th seed in the West. So if they make up ground on Memphis, but Portland, Sacramento, or the Spurs have a better record, they don't get a shot. I'm not saying your prediction is wrong, not saying it's right, but just trying to deflate the logic a bit. |

My 2 boxes of NT hope to God that you're right!

Playoffs are definitely an uphill battle, but I wouldn't count out the Pels any more than the rest of the teams on the outside looking in. They're youthful, play one of the fastest paces in the league, and really have nothing to lose. Everyone wrote them off after Zion missed the first few months. House money.
The only part that sucks, is that they'd still have to hypothetically beat Memphis 2-0 in order to get in under this revised format. But it appears they handled Memphis quite handily when they faced off in the regular season. We'll see. |
28ppg based on how many games? less than 20? And did those 5 other guys who did it play only 20 games or less?

I could be wrong about his minutes but these games are crucial so I can definitely see him getting 36 minutes a game. He avearged 33 minutes the last month of the season so I don't think it's a stretch. 2. You make a good point on the other teams they have to beat out. I just have a sneaky feeling the NBA will get what it wants. They usually do. |
Trae and now Zion?
Your boldness knows no bounds. Do one for Luka and Giannis plz.
Forget the player. That isn't where the boldness lies in my statement. The boldness is in predicting a base psa 10 that's already going for an absurd amount at $600 considering the population is now going to go up to an even more insane $1200. No modern prizm rookie since 2014 has done so. Not even Luka off a ROTY win, leading Mavericks to playoffs and being in MVP race all year has touched $1,000 base psa 10. |

The point is he did it over 20 games off a bad knee INJURY and out of shape at 19 years old! If he was healthy, I think it's very easy and reasonable to think he averages 25ppg+ over the course of an 82 game season. Next season will prove me right I believe. |
they gave the Zions the easiest schedule even when you calculate it two different ways

I'm all for it. Zion's got Next. Some people have been fighting that notion since college, but it's coming. Also, his game is going to transform immensely from what we currently see it. His assist potential will obviously be capped by having a pure pg like Lonzo, but this boy has serious multi dimensional upside. Think Draymond with premier level scoring ability and God tier athleticism. |

He's an excellent and willing passer. But for now they are guarding him one on and one so he does the correct move and goes for the bucket every time. |
He just needs to work on his jump shot...we saw glimpses of that. But, if can make consistent shots from the free throw line extended...WATCH OUT!

The claims that somehow his basketball IQ aren't special or simply mediocre blow my mind. Like how much of him have they even watched. That's one of the primary reasons why scouts salivated over him, is that he makes pure basketball plays and passes for his size and position that are anything but normal. Defenders are getting him as raw as he'll ever come right now...so they better take advantage while they can. |
Zion was 12/38 beyond 5ft... that includes a 4/4 in the opener...
|
Looks like a black version of Mortal Kombat character Sub-Zero in that photo. Only possibly more ripped....
Can I pre-purchase your rookie card?
How many 3 pointers has Ben Simmons made in his career? Zion made more in his first game ever? Zion's shooting will come with time because first and foremost he's not scared to shoot. |
