Philip Rivers announces his retirement

Really solid career. 5277/8134 Att/Com - 63,440 yds - 421 TDs - 209 Ints 8-time Pro Bowler and started 240 consecutive games (15 straight seasons). Too bad he could never get that ring. Speculation on the next Colts QB? |
More time to add to the family now.
|
They still have Eason who they drafted this past season.
|
DeShaun Wastson to the Colts. Make it happen!
|
He agreed to become the head coach of a Catholic high school in my county last year, so it seemed kind of a given that this would be his last hurrah. Very impressive career in my opinion. Maybe a HOFer in 7-10 years.
|
Absolute competitor. Would loved to have seen him at least get to a SB.
Hopefully he goes into coaching, seems like he would go into coaching HS football so he can coach his 200 sons. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
damn time flies, I remember when he came into the league.
|
Really should have gotten a ring with a few of those early Chargers teams. It's crazy how many HOF caliber players are in that 2000-2005 range in the NFL.

I think Eason could be a good QB. I think they will sign a cheap vet who is out there perhaps like a Trubisky and let those two compete for the job. If both stink it up in 2021 and Wentz struggles again in 2021 I can see Wentz be in Indy in 2022. But zero chance Indy trades for Watson. I still think Watson trade is under 10% that it will happen at all. |
It's crazy to imagine what we'd think about Rivers if he had 1 SB ring.
2021 has yet to play out but he'd have as many rings as Rodgers & Brees. |
I like the way you think Packman, that's what I assume as well.
|
que the ramp up of speculation for Wentz to the Colts. I personally don't think Rivers is a HOFer. He will get in, his overall stats will get him there. Big Ben looked like he might retire as well as Brees. That is a pretty good QB class in four years. If either of those two retire, he does bump Rivers down the line for HOF, IMO.
|
HOFer in my book.
|
Ben should retire, I also wonder if Brady might retire if he wins the Bowl this year.

If both retire, it will really be the changing of the guard for QBs in the league. This would be the prominent names of QBs before the 2012 draft class. 2005 Rodgers (I can Smith retiring as well, maybe?) 2006 none 2007 none 2008 Matt Ryan (Flacco around as a backup) 2009 Stafford 2010 none 2011 Cam Newton and Dalton - both look like backups now. Old man Fitzpatrick as well. The league is full of young QBs now. I think the way offenses are ran with RPOs and more running QBs, it will be a position of higher turnover going forward. |

If Buffalo makes the Super Bowl you an bet your last dollar Tom Brady will make the Super Bowl and break my heart. That guy can suck a big, fat, bag of jolly ranchers as far as I am concerned. If anyone needs to retire its that guy. |

Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
He already has a HS Coaching job set up, I believe he signed a contract to coach a HS team when he retired, either last year or the year before so the job is already his. Brissett is a FA as well so its going to be interesting to see what they do. I would love to see Watson in a Colts uniform but I highly doubt they would trade him inside the division. I wouldn't mind them making a strong effort to get Dak but Dallas will probably franchise tag him again. After that it gets a bit sketchy. Eason Im not sure about and they are in a win now mode so that may not be the best option. Bring back Brissett maybe, Winston is a FA but not sure whats going to happen in NO. Definitely not a fan of trading for Wentz but he may be better if reunited with Reich. |

Congrats to Philip on a great career. |
I was not a fan, but it was a solid, if unspectacular career.
Brees should be next, followed by Ben. It’s time. |
Solid career. Cant get past the "5 and 7" as far as hof goes.
I think many other QBs would have won at least one ring with the cast he had. Hall of pretty good. |
Hall of Fame in my book.

Minus the last game of their season. I didn't watch many of their games so the stats might not reflect his play accurately. From what I saw they needed a running game. |

Whoever trades for Watson will regret that deal for a decade. As for Colts QB, I honestly could see Trubisky going. They have a good oline, good rbs, young wrs and TY. Good defense. A mobile qb like mitch could really blend it all. I dont see 4500/35tds, but I could see 12-4 3800 passing, 650 rushing from Mitch in Indy. |

Congrats to Philip on a great career.
Chad henne did nothing he is trash and a trash qb for his whole career |
