Tom Brady Market - Sell Now or Wait? (Retirement)
Hope everyone’s enjoying the weekend.
What’s everyone’s thoughts on market peak for Brady? I know it will depend on what’s being sold, but curious in general for base rookies of him for example. Few scenarios below in consideration: 1. Now (based on retirement news) 2. When inducted into HOF 3. 5-10+ Year Hold Rookies: Jerseys /150 /99 /27 Thanks, Bill Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
Hold as long as you can. If you don’t need the money. Hold forever and hand down to future generations. Profit

I don’t need the money, but also no kids here so no passing it down unless I gave it to my nephew I guess ha Will probably sell a few and take a trip or something lol Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
Brady is like Mickey Mantle...his key cards will never lose their value.
but the rest of his stuff will eventually even out a little bit. |
Pretty safe to say Brady cards will never decline.
|
Sell now, buy back later. His retirement will be all over the news, and emotions will be high. That is how you profit in this hobby. Emotions cannot and will not stay high forever. No matter how great one is. There is always peaks and valleys. This news forces a peak.

From a pure roi it’s going to be one of the best times to sell Brady. Everything will be very liquid and should go for good money. I would not sell rare numbered or pats uni rc, wouldn’t sell autos… basically anything tough to replace should be held. But mass produced rc and later year cards would be strategic to move a bit this week.

Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I’d go ahead and sell those if there’s a decent spike. None of those are cards you can’t get back. |

+1 Sell the ones you can find on eBay, but don't sell the ones you can't replaced. This is a great time to sell then buy back during the summer when there are lack of Brady news. |
2013 gold prizm 9.5 can be had on COMC for... $125,000

I was gonna say now might be a good time to sell and buyback later, but I just noticed a tons of new listings on Tom Brady cards in the last hour or so. That might saturate the market temporarily.
|
i seriously doubt his cards will ever go down, and it pains me to say this so much, but he is probably the best NFL player ever.
|
As noted with the Mantle reference - he's the Jordan of the NFL. Collectors will ALWAYS be looking to add or upgrade. As time passes, and this stuff dries up, the prices will continue to rise. I mean what if he decides to not sign any cards and just disappear? He sure has never really been one to bother much with it while playing. Just speculation, but if he remains a difficult signer, it's only going to increase demand more.

I just listed my 00 Bowman Brady PSA 7 at $5100.
No way someone bites there, but it'll allow me to get offers and who knows. I had it listed at $2200 until today. No reason to undersell. Edited to 2000 |
Sell guy is a total loser.
|
Like others said I’d keep rare or SP cards, RC autos, chrome refractors and popular brands, anything else there is a good window here for 3 weeks or so to sell.
His best cards will likely not go down, everything else will go with the market, ups and downs Just like anyone else. |

What did Sell Guy ever do to you? |

I only have one RC of Brady, black Diamond BGS 9, keeping it. Whe. Prices go down, I am going to slab every numbered insert Brady I have and jersey cards, I have about 15 or so. His stuff will be liquid for a very long time.
His patriots stuff will have much longer long term value. |

Yeah they will. Happens to every player at some point once they stop playing. Out of sight out of mind. |
Yeah they will.

Sometimes I wonder if you actually collect in this hobby or just here to crap on everyone. When he said "never decline" he meant long term. Sure any player can have short term ups and downs within a certain window of period, even blue chip stocks can go up and down in a short window but in the long term, they always go up. Name me one example of a GOAT type players key cards thats down 5 or 10 or 15 years later from the time he retired. Btw a guy of Tom Brady's stature will never be out of sight out of mind lol, maybe for you, but certainly not most of the sports world. Then again you love projecting your own opinions onto everyone else, just like that dumb "nobody wanted Kobe cards until he died" take!!! |
Brady is like Mickey Mantle...his key cards will never lose their value
Interesting statement. How many different Mantle cards were ever issued? I don't know ... but I'd guesstimate that there may be thousands of different Brady cards. So which ones ultimately qualifiy as "key" cards besides the obvious rookies? |
Yeah they will.
Happens to every player at some point once they stop playing. Out of sight out of mind.
Except Tom Brady |
