[B][U]1980's and before - Era of vintage base RC's[/U][/B]

The era of Bowman, Fleer and Topps base cards + stickers. Filled with iconic base RC's of legends such as Kareem, Wilt, Bird, Magic, Jordan, etc.

[B][U]1990's - Era of Inserts and Parallel Inserts[/U][/B]

The era that introduced and absolutely killed it with inserts, parallel inserts, serial numbering and early autographs. Sets like PMG's and on-card autos are born. Skybox, Fleer, Topps and Upper Deck produce amazing cards. First Refractors, Die-Cuts, Holofoils, Serial #'s, Game Used Jerseys, Autographs, etc.

[B][U]2000's - Era of Ultra High End[/U][/B]

The era that mastered the Autograph and Game Used Auto cards. Introduced the first ever Ultra High End set with Exquisite Collection. RPA's, Limited Patch Autos and 130pt+ premium cards enter the hobby and become the staple of Ultra High End Premium cards across the board.

[B][U]2010's - Era of Panini[/U][/B]

Panini takes over and produces cards recycling all the previous technologies. Refractors, Serial Numbering, RPA's, Patch Autos, Autographs, Die-Cut, etc. The era of Wax perhaps with so many people stacking boxes upon boxes. Definitely the era of COLORS. Panini cranks out the same card in what seems like all the colors of the rainbow. Blue, Red, Green, Pink, Purple, etc.

What will be the 2020's?

2020's - Era of breakerz and flipperz.

2020's will be a weird year for basketball in particular. In the past the card market was driven by a clear and undisputed alpha on the court. Jordan era, Kobe era, Lebron era.

Now Lebron is soon entering the twilight of his career and no-one to replace him. Each year collectors are latching onto anyone they think can take up the mantle and it's causing some very inflated prices on players who won't end up being "the guy".

2020's era of the Goat Gamble.

I know one thing for sure, era of 2020's will be the years I don't have any interest in because I did not want to pay the hostage prices for wax.

There might not be one guy of this era because of the elite talent level at the top. Giannis, Jokic and Luka are all putting up LeBronesque numbers across the board.

It'll come down to titles at the end of the day but I think collectors are gonna have a lot of options with a lot of guys delivering value at the end of it all.
