What are your thoughts on sending a factory damaged valuable card back to Panini
So out of my FOTL box of Donruss Elite one of the FOTL parallels was a Bronze Kuminga /17. Only bad part is the top edge is cut horriblyz it’s very wavy and dips up and down and one of the corners was about missed so it juts up pretty good. Bummer.
So I’ve heard about people sending back cards to be replaced. But I have some questions, so if I send 17/17 back will they give me back a new 17/17? Or will they just send me a different card of what they deem equal value? Will it even be the same player? I’ve never done this before so I have no idea. Is it worth doing? How long does it take? what do you guys think? I appreciate the help! Thanks |
I send back a couple of highend, low numbered autographed cards each time a new card was sent back with the same exact numbering as the old one.

Oh ok thanks, how long did it take you to get it back? |
It's better that it's not autographed, but yes, they will remake it with the same stamped serial number. Will probably take a year or so though, which is unlucky considering Kuminga's hot right now.

I sent back a Doncic Absolute Auto #/125 which had a inch long surface stratch, took 8 months. |

I sent 2 Optic (2018-19) cards back one was holo and the other serial-numbered around early 2019. I received both cards in the same package with same serial numbers mid-to late 2019. |
My thoughts are: don't send anything back to Panini unless you're prepared to never see anything in return again.
|
I've sent about 20 cards back to Panini the past 2 years for factory damage and everything has been replaced with cards of similar value if not direct replacements. Sadly, the 2 most valuable cards I've returned are still open cases, a One and One Tyler Herro Rookie signature /99 and a One and One Kevin Durant first team signatures /25. Both of these cards were encased and significantly marred, I felt I had no choice but to return and take my chances. As of now, it's been roughly 1 year since being returned and I'm still waiting.

I hope Fanatics gets rid of this replacement thing. I never got why people do it or why Panini honors it. You ain't guaranteed anything while opening wax let alone an undamaged card. People feel entitled. Crazy, sad world.

This. And then they whine that Panini takes too long sending out redemptions. I will admit though if I hit an expensive card and it was damaged I would probably take advantage of it. |

For the amount of money they make, a lot of these quality assurance issues shouldn’t happen in the first place! |

Wow, this is dumb. What's the entitlement? Panini guarantees that their pack fresh cards will be at least NM and offers to replace any that aren't. Why shouldn't the customers hold them to that? |
I think it honestly depends on your age and your life expectancy.
Under 30 years old send it in, youll have it by 70 years old. Over 30 years old, leave it in your will. |

In life you aren't guaranteed anything, no matter who's mouth it comes out of. |
I talked with Emily Brooke back in February because they sent me a damaged Burrow Contenders RC Ticket. She said absolutely they would replace it and sent me a Fed-Ex shipping label. It was received and signed for on Feb 25th but have yet to hear anything on it. Fingers crossed

I have been waiting since November 2020 on a replacement for a damaged Burrow parallel with no communication.
YMMV, but I would not expect to get a replacement before at least mid-2023. |

Except it's literally guaranteed...if you're willing to put in the effort. |

Yeah, good luck waiting two years or more. Maybe theyll send you back something that isnt junk. |
I’m currently at 7 1/2 months waiting on a replacement of a damaged 1/1 from last year’s Elite. Anyone have suggestions of best ways to contact Panini for an update? I know that’s probably a hilarious question.

You can call or just go stand in your backyard and yell; both will be similarly effective |

Following up here. Just received notice from Panini CS that my replacement card (combined to replace both the aforementioned Herro and Durant cards) is on the way. Incoming... Jordan Poole contenders playoff auto /99. |
I did this. I bought an RJ Barrett lime green optic /149 and didnt realize the card had damage, the seller clearly listed it to but i some how missed all that LOL
So after i received the card the first thing i noticed was on the top of the card was a dent looking thing, but when you touch it the card was smooth. So i knew this was damaged when the card was made. So after over paying for a damaged card I figured i'd try sending it to panini, what the heck. I figured i'd never see the card again but to my suprise, over a year later a package arrives and it's my card. Brand new, perfect, same number and everything. Now i want to get it graded cause it seems perfect. Corners, centering, surface all seem 10 to me. |

what an absolutely horrible take... if you bought a brand new car and it came with a smashed windshield and dented fender from the dealership you should just accept it and move on? |
