CSG grading partnership with PWCC

Not sure if this is new but I noticed a thread on Net54 discussing a grading partnership with CSG and PWCC.

Nope!

Is it estimated or guaranteed 10 days?

So CSG is patterning with PWCC, authenticator for eBay, and have Fanatics money on the back end with the assumption of some kind of partnership there.

These moves, imo, are designed to keep a baseline of submissions when the inevitable dip of the market happens. It was also "normalize" CSG slabs. Meaning if it is real easy to give raw cards to eBay or PWCC or direct from Fanatics (and their breaker network) and end up with graded sales on the market. A lot of collectors will just keep cards in those slabs. This will in turn make CSG slabs acceptable and collected.

I still think in a few years time, they will be what Beckett was 6-7 years ago. SGC is going to be the biggest lover out of all this even though they have the best graders (imo). We know that being the best grader isn't enough in today's market.

This hobby is a huge business now and all that will matter is ROI. The accuracy of the grader is not as important to people as get 10’s

Anish 04-29-2022 11:29 AM

Isn’t this a major conflict of interest?

SupermanBrandon 04-29-2022 12:26 PM

"Best Grader" isn't a thing. There's no way to quantify that, at all. Grading is a game of Time & ROI, inside the hobby.

Well, it is. Might not be to you, or a lot of people, but I grade the majority of my subs for myself and not for profit.

CSG is light years ahead if you care about the card and PSA for the money and still a decent level of grading.

I'm happy with that.

Cool. Still just your opinion on who the “best grader” is. Light years ahead is an opinion. ROI is 100% quantified w/ history & hard numbers. But you do you.

CaptSpaulding 04-30-2022 09:47 AM

What is CSG thinking? This might be one of the most confusing bits of hobby news I have heard in quite some time. It seems so wrong so it just must be so right. When TPG who are knee deep in questionable practices, like PSA and SGC, want nothing to do with Brentsy ya gotta wonder what the attraction was.

Well congratulations to the newlyweds. Just when ya thought there might just be a grading company who was determined to distance themselves from the fraud and lack of ethics (or at least the the perception of those things) and they jump in bed with one of the most notorious.

Anyway, looks like there are plenty of hobbyists who are gonna get in line for affordable grading.
Don't get emotional mate.
Sorry man it's actually SGC that is "light years" ahead if you care about the card. Just spreading the word.

A glowing endorsement from the forums biggest PSA apple polisher.

KhalDrogo 04-30-2022 11:06 AM

Out of 60,805 fixed listings, just 515 are CSG and 2233 are CGC.

Out of 15,249 weekly listings, just 162 are CSG and 2195 are CGC.

CGC is already pretty popular for Pokemon and Magic. This is clearly a move to get the PWCC crowd more interested in CSG. It’s a pretty good proposition for $20 total for guaranteed 10 days at any card valve, then direct to auction with the $20 taken out of the final sale price.

Arianny_Fan 04-30-2022 08:24 PM

So you can only use the grading service to sell on pwcc? $20 any card no matter what the value? To my understanding you send your raw cards to pwcc who sends to csg to grade then it's sent back to pwcc to auction on ebay. Correct? Why not grade @the $20 price point no matter card value for regular members? What extra does csg get out partnering with pwcc?

CSG/CGC is giving a deal to PWCC because CSG’s footprint on PWCC is non-existent. PWCC is the second largest sports card marketplace. They need that clientele.

Arianny_Fan 04-30-2022 08:47 PM

So the make $20 in volume partnering with pwcc.

YeahBuddy 05-01-2022 08:06 AM

There's no need trying to figure out the WHY ...

If Target announces a new collab with some brand of item to be in their store are you really surprised? It's what they do ...

CSG will continue to pump out news and anything that helps add to the bottom line. They are a huge outfit.

Considering they once owned SGC, in a year from now they'll likely be taking their graders with better compensation packages. Both being in Florida.

Wouldnt shock me in the slightest one day to wake up to CSG/CGC buying out SGC then somehow still incorporate Tuxedo slabs as an option for checkout to still appease long time SGC collectors and the vintage market that likes the tuxedo look.

If CSG follows the sister company, then NO CSG is actually going to be light years behind.

Check out these whole page of grades, especially the centering grades. This is bad, real bad.

pwcc has their own auction site since they got kicked off ebay.

(unless something has changed that i missed)

And the competition for marketshare in this post COVID grading world begins.

Let the price cuts continue
