Need grading advice for high end card
2 Attachment(s)
So I was lucky enough to hit a Sapphire Julio auto /10 in a break. I have the card in my possession now, and want to send it off to get graded. I plan to sell once it's graded. I'm torn on the pros and cons of PSA vs BGS. I know a PSA 10 would sell better, but no guarantees it gets that grade. And there's the price difference between PSA (looking at over 1k to get it graded) vs BGS ($400??). I don't usually send cards in, so I'm a newbie when it comes to this....any advice is appreciated. Card pictured below. Thanks

BGS for card protection and subgrades
PSA for resell value, to hide auto grade, and if I gets a 9, hides the subgrades as to why it got a nine. |
PSA or SGC. Wouldn't even consider BGS.
But that's just me. |
Go with PSA
You can currently submit, via special, at the super express level (up to $4,999) for $200. Sure, they could up charge you... but I don't see a comp anywhere on eBay or Terapeak where a sapphire Julio auto sold for more than $5K... so until that happens, an up charge is unlikely. You hit it in a break... declare the value at something like $4850 and see what happens! |
PSA all day every day
|
BGS is garbage.
Fly to Cali and walk it through PSA |
ZERO reason to use anything other than PSA on that card
|
I have more BGS slabs than PSA slabs in my PC but know one thing.
If selling, PSA is the way assuming no flaw(s). If flawed, then it might depend. Best of luck and congrats on the monster! |
PSA only. BGS is no bueno.

Fly to Cali and walk it through PSA
^ Best advice right here ^ Unfortunately, we’ve all seen too many “USPS lost my card!” threads. |
Chances are, the edges and corners look sharp? How’s the surface? How’s the centering? If they look perfect, send it to PSA.
PSA is ALWAYS king. |

TAG
*ducks* Yeah, PSA. |
A similar post came up on a high end Julio card a few weeks back. If you must sub then send to psa. Beckett is dead and not worth even considering. My personal opinion is to not sub for grading and let the buyer deal with the stress. What if it gets lost? What if it comes back a 9? What if a myriad of issues pop up?
Unless you simply must squeeze every penny out of your pull sell it raw. If you put it in the b/s/t forum today you will almost certainly have a boatload of cash in your PayPal account by tomorrow morning. |

Don't support BGS unless it's a Topps Vault card, as PSA won't slab it. BGS is exceptionally dirty.

I had always planned to fly out to Cali and walk it through PSA if I hit something like that.
Have fun with it! |

Unfortunately, we’ve all seen too many “USPS lost my card!” threads.
Ironically I'm going to be in Cali (LA area) in June or July timeframe. I would hate to hold it that long and have him slump/get injured or something like that.... |

I didn't search for non-autos... that's cool... if real. I still stand by what I said :D |

PSA, do it ASAP and if you are risk-adverse, get some insurance on it for shipping - not USPS insurance, but a policy with a company like Collectibles. |

Then book a trip this weekend! Either way, that or losing some money is better than losing it completely. Not even sure if you could insure it for its full value through USPS. |

selling on the internet, its best to have it graded.
Correct me if I'm wrong but doesn't eBay only allow 3 days to initiate a return on trading cards now? Also, this would have to go to through their authentication process. Wouldn't that mean no returns at all? |
