Need new computer suggestions

I have about a 10 year old Dell...it has been slowly dying the last 4 years. It gets used mostly for my buying/selling on ebay....but also for researching things on internet, sports scores etc. and email.

It has finally died. I would really appreciate any input with suggestions on what to look for. I rarely store anything on the thing...a few letters here and there. The only area where I see I might use it better is to get into being able to send more photos, etc of the family. Would be nice to be able to create various photos, edit photos, etc.

We really do not use the pc for games and stuff like that. I am one of the least knowledgeable persons using a computer...any suggestions on brand(other than the slow death the Dell has been great), features, etc. Size of storage, etc. I know I want it to be fast...

thanks!!!

I have a basic Vostro system for a year already, I bought mine for $400 with a LCD monitor and it works just fine...as well just upgraded it to 3 gigs of ram for $35 more.

I shopped computers hard about year ago, looking for best deal.

Def contact company direct, stores like Best Buy, etc, are way over priced for things you really dont need.

If you are doing a basic desktop, I would do like JBS said, and contact dell online or on the phone and have them build to what you need.

If you want the best for video, graphics, and gaming build one through HP direct.

JMO, but I built mine through HP, and paid about 1k less than similar from retail.

I would definitely build my own system. However if you don't want to there are plenty of good deals all around.. you just have to know what you need it for first. Then you go out and do a search. There were plenty of good systems available for cheap around the thanksgiving holiday...

I have a system that we aren't using for the law firm. I sent you a PM about it. It should do everything you want and then some.
