Conspiracy Theory: Marvel Beginnings Vol. 2 Purple Flipped FX
 

So this is a bit of a stretch but in the Marvel Beginnings Vol. 2 series from last year there is supposedly a numbered parallel for the Flipped FX inserts that are purple and numbered to 10.

This particular color is listed as exclusive to the Retail boxes, but the issue is I simply cannot find one. No listings on ebay sold or otherwise. I even scanned through the youtube box breaks i could find and found none. Not even a picture of one.

If anyone has one or can point me toward one I'd love to know that they do in fact exist. :flex:

I dont have much experience with this release, retail or otherwise, but a briefest search didnt turn up much either. So not sure.

All I got so far is the Flipped FX Purple /10 is listed in the pack odds on the side of the retail box, and I believe the below shows a pic of a purple Kitty Pryde Purple flipped fx on the side of the box (lower left).

This of course doesnt mean the insert actually exists, box art can be preliminary.

Im not sure what to make of the lack of examples on the market thus far. Retail print run might be extraordinarily huge, and a /10 card in retail is quite rare. No idea what the print run of this set is...but what would a guesstimate on a mainstream retail release like this in marvel be....100k blasters? More, like 250k? At 100k, with 900 supposed purple FX's, it's like 1:111 blaster boxes. Perhaps up to double or triple that. That's long odds. But still you'd think one would show up by now.

Shows how observant I am not noticing the art on the side of the box. But yeah I don't really know what the print run for something like this is. I know that blowout right now is still selling them by the case, not really in the position to drop $400 to find out if they are in there though.

A conspiracy? I don't think so. If there are no purple parallels in these boxes, it's more likely a manufacturing error.

Perhaps more likely than not. The thing is, if purple parallels didnt exist in the product, wouldnt that be pretty blatant false advertising then, listing them as possible /10's in the pack odds section on the box? A lot of people might be buying these boxes just for that chance (and the creator gallery autos listed at long odds, like 1:1200). I guess I'd have to read the fine print on the box and see what kind of disclaimers there are.

Also this is still at the 'if' stage. I think it's very possible they do exist just are exceedingly rare compared to the print run. Will have to see if any show up.

It's not like the above cant have mistakes. I think I spotted one off the bat: no way those 'Point in Time' inserts are 1:67. They are a common, cheapo insert, a $.50 insert on comc. Pretty sure they meant that to be 1:6.67 like the other cheapo inserts Team Formations and Cosmic Alphas right before it. Indeed, on epack it is showing those insert sets are the same 1:15 for all 3, signifying same caliber. So this looks to be a mistake, but in this case no one complains since the actual reality odds are better than what's listed.

You would say that, being in the tank for big Purple.

Yeah the odds over all seem a bit off, even online I've seen them listed differently for those inserts.

And yeah conspiracy might be a bit much 😂, but I hope they do exist because otherwise it does come off a bit like trying to upsell the retail boxes.

It is also possible that its just because this isn't a particularly popular series, so lots of stock are still floating around out there.

I’d say it’s a pretty important point whether they exist or not, so you’re right to wonder…it’s one of the main long odds draws of the retail boxes. If they don’t exist, that’s an issue. You may be right and not enough has been opened.

I think the real marvel card conspiracy is, did 1990 Impel Marvel universe really go to the moon and back, in 2021 ;) I still have my questions..

Seriously, and I'll be the first to admit I bought into a tiny bit of the hype. It was definitely exciting.
