Topps Exchange - new redemption program
From Topps' social medias - https://x.com/Topps/status/1810392649091920302
𝗔𝗡𝗡𝗢𝗨𝗡𝗖𝗘𝗠𝗘𝗡𝗧: We are launching a brand new initiative at the 2024 National: the Topps Exchange program. This program allows collectors with redemptions that have been open for 100+ days to exchange them for a new sealed product: Topps Exchange Boxes. These boxes contain one autograph card each: a card from a previous product where the redemptions have expired but not all the cards were redeemed. Card values range from $50-$7500+. For every $100 in open redemption value, collectors can exchange their redemptions for one Topps Exchange Box. The number of redemption cards doesn’t matter here…it’s all about value. So redemptions can be combined to meet the $100 value threshold, AND single redemptions can be used to receive multiple boxes. There is a maximum limit of 10 boxes per collector. Schedule your appointment now for the 2024 National before spots fill up! Full details - https://www.topps.com/pages/topps-exchange-program
Thoughts? I think this is kind of cool. But it begs the question - if Topps still has unredeemed redemptions, why can they not fill them after the expiration date? Or at least push the expiration date out longer. I'm sure redemption value will remain to be a hot topic as well and interested to hear people's experience with that aspect |
So they'll just sit on redemptions hoping some moron will ask for a box then backdoor their redemption. Cool

Who determines the $50- $7500 value?
Who determines the $50- $7500 value?
Definitely won't be you
|
sounds like a suckers bet if you ask me as I'd be willing to bet 98% of all the good cards have been redeemed and you will get a $2 scrub.

Kareem Abdul-Jabbar's manager. |
The values of redemptions will be mutually agreed upon by the collector and Topps. If a mutual agreement is not reached, the collector can choose to wait for their redemption to be fulfilled or request a substitution through Topps.com via the collector's account.

Who determines the $50- $7500 value?
|
And I’m SURE there’s no way Topps tracks which cards go in which packs, and send those to their preferred partners/breakers. No way they would ever be able to do that, right?
This new regime continues to impress with their ability to get more grotesquely slimy with each and every subsequent press release. I’m sure this initiative began with the best intentions, but Topps/Fanatics cannot help themselves with bad optics after bad optics…gross. #theboycottcontinues |
Many comments on the IG story asking 'what if you're not going to the National?'
I have one outstanding redemption from 2017 for a UFC auto, requested a sub 4 years ago. I'm not wasting time at the show for this, so I too would like to know what their plan outside of the show is |

No. The "agreed value" is the value of the redemptions. You get one mystery box for every $100 of redemptions. |

Nicely played. |
Michael Rubin scheduled an appointment!

Probably should also post in the National thread.

I can’t stand redemptions in general and agree that this new program, while ostensibly about helping out collectors with redemptions, will probably give Fanatics a way to alleviate pressure to avoid redemptions in general. And probably offers ways to abuse the system for both topps and collectors that I can’t even think of yet.
Having said that, I’m very curious what the top-end examples of cards topps/fanatics could be putting into these boxes are, since I bet they will try to make some headlines or create some interest during The National. What are the biggest redemptions in recent years that might be eligible for this? Parallel 2018 Shohei bowman autographs? What are other big redemptions out there? |

Why not just stop having redemptions
|
the degens will love this
|
I can’t wait to see someone get a card in a mystery box that is the redemption of another card someone else was waiting on.
|
Random team breaks not too long after.

I did not think of that. That will surely happen. Breakers trading low end redemptions for boxes and the doing random team/player breaks. I hope the boxes are clearly identifiable and not all the same. That would be funny |

Bingo! |
