were you on AOL message boards in the 90's too? |
That's normal. They just finished 23 outside of Flawless next month.

Indeed. I was trading with people across the country who didn't know I was a kid. |

This reminds me of countless "a/s/l?" queries. My first brush with it was AOL 2.5 installed from a floppy disk. Later joining up on some Yahoo Groups to trade cards. Hit up some Beckett auctions, picking up some sweet mid-grade 96-97 Skybox Autographics of Luc Longley and Randy Brown - all I could afford. Hanging out with Roverjam and the night crew on Beckett. Man those were the days. But yeah, Panini NFTs are neato too I guess. |

Then having to mail the seller a check, that my Mom would have to make out for me. Or trading with strangers for SLU figures from different states, that you'd find in the classifieds of Sports Collectors Digest or Tuff Stuff. Even here on Blowout, they ONLY sold cards by the case. And it was just a list. You had to write out what you wanted, then go to the post office for a money order. That was the longest 3 week wait of my life, waiting for my first case of Leaf Certified from here 20+ years ago. Kids today, with their instant access to everything. They dont know how us OG collectors had to actually work for stuff! The new breed doesnt even want to open their own packs. They pay a breaker. And they dont even want to mail a card, they want make believe ones on a blockchain. |

I still do this just to be safe. I used to just enter a max bid early and let it ride, but the last few times I've done that the price has been run up/shilled on me. Now I just set an alarm for a minute before end of auction. |

Ha, learned my lesson on that one years ago when I'd bid my max with a day or so to go, not pay attention when it was ending, then end up losing everything by 50 cents. Now, if I really want it, I'm watching that thing count down to about 10 seconds before I put in my best and final bid! ;) |

I put in a high max bid on a card that’s realistically worth maybe 30-40 bucks and it got run up to $100, all by the same bidder. Likely shilled by a buddy of the seller. Only time I can remember my max winning of the top of my head was about a year ago when I put in a healthy bid for a 1986 Bob Baumhower PSA 10. Probably could’ve gotten it for about 50% of what I paid if I had set an alarm. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

I know, I used to use the free version, but you get a mirrored version and no countdown for 75 cents a month. I think it's safe to say that it's saved me about 10,000 months worth so far. |
