wow, even more parallels?

you spoil us Panini

dieeee

terrymcginnis 02-28-2025 10:11 AM

Panini has some historic / great products. Miles better than Topps owning everything and putting out unlicensed chrome and a gazillion team sets

703dispensary 02-28-2025 10:23 AM

oh boy - a chance to get a Samu Aghehowa sticker auto! Nothing wrong with applying the heat gun to it and placing the sticker on one of his rookies, right?!

Singles hunt for me - I like the Future, Visionary and generally all the inserts are much better than what Topps "puts out" (to put it politely).

historic being the operative word

the last 'brilliant' soccer set that Panini put out was Nobility in 2017, nearly a decade ago lol

Panini's problem with regard to soccer is the fact that they don't have any really good intellectual property with regards to club soccer.

Topps has the Champions League and EPL, and Panini only has Serie A and La Liga neither of which are currently popular enough right now to support 200-300 card products.

Panini's toehold is in the international game (i.e. World Cup, Euros, Copa America, etc.), but they've done a very poor job with those, releasing a small amount of hugely overpriced products.

gomiamigo 03-02-2025 01:31 PM

Over the years I'd say they did a pretty good job with WC products.

In terms of design, product composition, yes.

In terms of pricing, no.....2014 WC was released at a reasonable price, and quickly zoomed through the roof.

2018 & 2022 WC were both released at $500+ a box.

And they've only done a single WC product (Prizm) each time around, whereas they really should have released 2-3 different products at different price levels.

I can't blame them for pricing.

I've been waiting forever to find Copa America products at a decent price. I thought even retail would fall since it was high to being with.

It's still too high for the returns. Only one I can remember recently that were fairly priced was 2022 WC Breakaway but even then it didn't last that long and went back up in price.

Well....I can....:D

When the World Cup is the most important event you have rights to, you should be milking it for every penny you can by releasing a multitude of products with different concepts/price points.

Maybe Prizm as your high-end product, Select as a mid-range product, and Donruss/Optic as your low-end product. And maybe a Heritage/Archives style product using old Donruss or Score designs that is heavy on retired players who have appeared in the World Cup (like 2017 Nobility).

$400 on panini, run don’t walk!!
Jk this is awful.

gomiamigo 06-06-2025 08:45 PM

2014 WC wasn't 'reasonable' it was darn cheap, at least after release day you could have bot all you wanted at $60 a box and under at any local show in the northeast.

pharmd19 07-23-2025 07:29 AM

Anyone buying the international hobby box today at $124.95 on Panini's website? Only one auto per box but sometimes these international versions offer better value than the true hobby box does.

YayNJ 07-23-2025 08:57 AM

nope.

The problem is that since players don't change national teams, there really isn't much demand for national-team focused products outside of World Cup years and maybe the Copa America/Euros.

I don't need or want 2-3 new products with Chrisitan Pulisic USMNT cards EVERY year...I want a couple of AFFORDABLE World Cup products every four years.

I'll try but my guess is that bots will get to it before I do

I'll be fine with one set and the tournament sets (Copa America, World Cup, etc.). Problem is that for the season we have:

- Donruss
- FIFA Select
- Noir
- Obsidian
- Immaculate

They just need to do a better job at "spreading" the players across releases and coming up with decent chase cards. FFS just bring some of the Nobility inserts, make them SSP and the stuff will sale.

No doubt the site will lock up, it's a good flip

pharmd19 07-23-2025 01:02 PM

Well it sold out in about a millisecond. Oh well.

Blake050 07-23-2025 01:07 PM

I had 12 boxes in the cart, but by the time checkout loaded, they were already sold out.

unreal13 07-23-2025 01:23 PM

I just went after 2 boxes and managed to checkout at 2:03. It was showing as sold out a minute or so before my payment finally processed.
