Good to see Topps going strong with Marvel and... MCU Phase 1 content? Sheesh.

I knew when they did tek for stranger things that topps chrome was coming

Shockingly for such a popular show 90 percent of cast loves to sign .. although there has only been 9 episodes in last 6 years. So they are all probably pretty bored

But after tek and chrome auto values will be dead

Wonder what that does for the first day release set? I would think 2025 chrome is beneficial for that set?

I would think it helps it out a decent amount as the collector base grows. Hopefully this means they’ll have a set prepared for when messiah comes out.

john goodman and billy crystal dual auto..now that is a card. Wonder what set that will be in

Topps one upping UD with the MCU Phase 1 product. Move those UD cards while you can. :coffee:

Wasn't 2025 Star Wars Meiyo released at Celebration just now?

As a comics-first card collector, I'm not impressed (yet not surprised) by the emphasis on MCU

I'm glad someone is FINALLY doing Disney voice actor autos!! I don't know why UD never made that happen.

And yes, SW Meiyo was released at Celebration.

You know what I see?

That Toy Story is getting a 30th anniversary set. That SpongeBob is getting a 25th anniversary release.

This all makes me feel SO OLD!

A bit of both.

Never look a gift horse in the mouth, but I just see something like Toy Story getting too many sets--maybe this particular release will cover all four movies, but I doubt it. Then we'll see TS2 and TS3 and TS4. Spaced out over many years maybe it's not the worst, but it' not something endlessly renewing public interest like things as broad as SW or Disney. (Of course you could easily argue there are too many of those sets, too!)

Good time to be a collector, if those titles interest you.

I feel like SpongeBob could do really well if the price point isn't absolutely ludicrous

I have to be honest, I don't see Topps coming anywhere close to UD for card design / artwork.

People will follow the Marvel brand from UD to Topps. I am excited for the new sets announced. Also think we might get an autographed Topps Now Thunderbolts card later this week to coincide with the movie premiere.

I agree with that to an extent. I think there are many anit-Topps collectors out there. Maybe because of what Fanatics did with Star Wars or whatever the reason may be. However, I think there are [i]more[/i] breakers or baseball collectors that will open Topps Marvel products as a tangential product because it is Topps. Also, those Superfractors make people go crazy. So maybe the composition of buyers will change. Less collectors, more "hey, let's check this out" sorts of people.

This is interesting, as it is NOT something we would see from UD unless it were part of an ongoing Weekly set. Now is the order-to-print set, right (or whatever it's called)? Meaning any Auto would still be months out potentially from being fulfilled? Or am I getting that confused with something else?

Yeah… total speculation on my part but they do autos (and relics) quite often for the baseball Topps Now so I’m thinking that it is only a matter of time before we get Topps Now MCU autos. Thunderbolts seems to have positive early reviews and they could get some cool signers I would think.

Am I the only one completely underwhelmed by the Marvel releases?

Two of the five are MCU cards that we've had for years, MCU Phase 1 has been beat to death already. The Marvel Studios stuff never did well with UD.

1975 could be interesting, depending on format and content so I'll withhold judgement on that one.

Deadpool chrome would be fun - but the way they price chrome releases I'm sure it'll be a $250 box. Wonder if this is based off the comics or movies?

I love Marvel rips, just not a fan of Fanatics pricing. Was hoping more stuff with original art, sketches, etc - maybe 1975 will be it.
