2025 Cleveland Browns Hype Train - 5 QBs and a Dream

Hype hype it up. One of the 5 have to work right?

I read something that said the owner overruled the GM/Coach to take Sanders. Wonder if that is true? Maybe he wants Prime Time as his head coach?

asujbl 05-05-2025 04:15 PM

Watson will never take another snap for Cleveland

Flacco will be the odd man out… traded when someone gets hurt as his deal is very team friendly… there is your hot take

Scottish Punk 05-05-2025 06:40 PM

I will go a step further, Watson won't play another down in the NFL.

I think Pickett will be the odd man out. I can see Flacco as well. Figure that want to keep one vet in the room. Browns could have 7 QBs on their payroll this year. DTR and Winston are still on the books this year.

They have $2 million combined of dead cap. It’s irrelevant

Let’s relax on the “still on the books” without context

Like 25 dudes are still on the books if you waive them and have dead cap money

That’s every single team in the NFL

I found in interesting. I have never seen a team paying 7 QBs at once. DTR is next to nothing. Winston is in line with Flacco and Pickett. Of course, the rookies are on small low round contracts. Considering teams only want to carry 3 Qbs on their roster, probably a lot of teams have 1 maybe 2 left over contracts, 7 is a lot.

Just more fall out from the Watson mess.

They aren’t paying 7 QB’s

Learn how the dead cap works

Kenny's far from great, but he's the best they have right now.

Unless they think they can win THIS YEAR (heck no) and Flacco has a great camp (unlikely, much more likely to have fake injury to skip most of camp/preseason at his age), no point in starting Flacco. He's not what he was even a year or two ago, and he's unlikely to stay healthy in a black and blue division.

The rookies are projects at best. Flacco's a good mentor. They can IR Watson, carry Pickett and Flacco and one rook QB3/emercency, other rook practice squad or cut.

Correct Watson won't play again (for Cle)... might not start again anywhere. But I'd think he may be a depth guy elsewhere, who knows. There are much worse QBs holding roster spots. Desean seems like he's been in the league awhile, but he and Mahomes aren't even 30 years old yet. QBs of any startable quality are just so rare in the NFL right now. 2024 draft fixed some of that, but there's still a shortage. I wouldn't doubt if he ends up QB2 or QB3 somewhere else down the line.

bojesphob 05-06-2025 06:38 AM

My father-in-law is a 50+ year long Browns fan, and his take I thought was pretty interesting. Best scenario, Flacco is this year's starter only. He'll be better than Watson (let's be honest, almost anybody is better than Watson at this point), and they'll know if any of the rookie QBs are worth keeping. If they aren't, then they can keep going with Flacco next year and draft a few more QBs and see if any of them are any good. The F-i-L is still mad that they got rid of Flacco to begin with, and he still complains about the Watson trade like it happened yesterday.

Of course, this is the Browns, so they'll probably find a way to screw it up.

Grid 05-06-2025 07:40 AM

They have 3 first round QBs now. With a combined 2 Super Bowls. Plus 2 rookies with upside.

One of them has to be the answer, right?

Right?

It's the Browns, all 5 will be a joke. It's only right.

Learn how the Cleveland Browns work.

None of these five will be taking a snap by Week 7.

Color that in.

The thing about Flacco is that he probably gives Cleveland their best chance of winning games this season, but he's not exactly their long term QB of the future.

If I was them I would want to see what I had with everyone and give everyone a chance to play under fire. Maybe start the season with Flacco while the young guys learn the system, but I would certainly want to see at some point what I had in those young guys.

Grid 05-06-2025 09:25 AM

They cant go in to the season carrying 5 QBs. The immediate cap hit if they cut Watson right now is enormous.

Flacco & Watson will be on the roster. They wont be able to hide either of the rookies on their practice squad. They would get picked up right away on waivers.

Pickett is the odd man out come camp for sure.

tjforce 05-06-2025 09:32 AM

I'm looking at this roster:

WR2: Cedric Tillman
Rt: Jack Conklin (often injured)
Lt: Dawand Jones (also often injured)
DE: Isaiah McGuire
FS: Ronnie Hickman

Don’t count on it

The Cleveland FO does not like Flacco in any comparison to the fans

Flacco will be gone quickly if Pickett is even decent (or the rookies step up)

This has been discussed locally since the draft. Flacco was a lifeline “just in case” the Browns didn’t get a QB they wanted

amg2002 05-06-2025 10:26 AM

Pickett gets the start game 1 and Gabriel will be the QB by game 5. Flacco there for mentoring only.
Judkins and Sampson alternate similar to what Montgomery and Gibbs do in Detroit.
The Browns have a lot of 2 TE sets with Njoku and Fannin - this will be a huge strength
The Browns D will be top 5 in the NFL.
Browns go 9-8 and just miss the playoffs

This is very accurate outside of the 9 wins. I’ll take the under. Haha

But that’s OK

I want two picks in the Top 10 next year

oldgoldy97 05-06-2025 10:43 AM

I feel like the Browns have been talked about more than enough for an entire season let alone less than two weeks after the draft.

mikejones 05-06-2025 10:48 AM

With the number 22 pick in the nfl draft, the browns select:

Brady Quinn QB Notre Dame
Brandon Weeden QB Oklahoma State
Johnny Manziel QB Texas A&M

What a weird post

Archangel1775 05-06-2025 11:00 AM

QB1: Watson: Re-ruptured his Achilles in Nov/Dec 2024, IR for 2025, likely released with 1 year left on his contract
QB2: Joe Flacco: 40 Years old, a poor's man's Vinny Testaverde at this point, Not selling tickets
QB3: Kenny Pickett: 1 Year contract with a Club Option, Not selling tickets
QB4: Dillon Gabriel: Will compete for 2025, 2026 snaps, Will sell tickets
QB5: Shadeur Sanders: Will compete for 2025, 2026 snaps, Will sell tickets

The two vets are placeholders, hopefully the young bucks learn from them.

Will likely have another Top 5 2026 NFL Draft Pick where they will probably draft another QB

The Browns will then likely be selected for NFL Hard Knocks 2026 regardless of current team eligibility rules

It'll be much watch TV with the impact Shadeur has no matter how you feel about him.

amg2002 05-06-2025 11:07 AM

How about the Browns and the Jags are the 2 worst teams in football in 2025!

Browns have #1 and #2 pick in the 2026 draft!
#1 - Garrett Nussmeier QB
#2 - Carnell Tate WR

asujbl 05-06-2025 11:08 AM

Pickett
Gabriel
Flacco
Sanders

That’s the order as of today. That’s the order going into camp

People can play their way up or down but anyone that thinks Flacco is A) the starter or B) a lock to make the team is crazy

And isn’t a Browns fan that pays attention

Arch Manning and how he plays this year (and he doesn’t need $$) will be the most fascinating story in a long time

Most people think he goes back to Texas but he’s eligible for the 2026 draft if he goes crazy this season
