Discuss amongst yourselves.

majestik101 05-16-2025 04:50 PM

That's a whole lot of cabbage for a quarterback who's considered by many as overrated.

And weren't they 6-11 last year?

Discuss.

hermanotarjeta 05-16-2025 04:54 PM

RIP Niners.

Haha, but not Purdy's bank ledger....:D

JohnnyHatesJazz 05-16-2025 05:01 PM

Small hands, big money.

49erRCCollector 05-16-2025 05:14 PM

I won’t lie: I don’t love it.

Will be curious on details and guarantees.

This year and next year’s draft picks better pay off big time.

mfw13 05-16-2025 05:20 PM

Investing so much in your QB makes the lack of investment in your offensive line even more puzzling.....

The current O-line is going to get Purdy killed.....

49erRCCollector 05-16-2025 05:21 PM
i really like this deal! :D
Ha! I bet you do.

Can't disagree. I think they wanted guys this year in the draft but got scooped so went best available by need. I expect next year will be all OLine.

Whether or not you feel like Purdy is a good or great quarterback is secondary. Not surprised the number starts with 5. It is the going rate for a starter. If the contract has a big out after year three or four will indicate the confidence level the 49ers have in him.

packman80 05-16-2025 05:29 PM

Lets see what the first 4 years contain. The final year in most contracts is funny money to make the deal look bigger then it really is as the player will never see that final year as either they get cut or get a new contract before that final year.

Siberian13 05-16-2025 05:58 PM

Is the $181 million guaranteed part accurate? If so, good for him. Highest paid 7th round player ever.

No need for Purdy to get a roommate next season, even with crazy San Fran housing costs I think he has rent covered and then some...:D

kipgen 05-16-2025 06:02 PM

He earned it 100%

They'll bounce back, last year was basically worst case scenario in terms of injuries for them

blackvodka 05-16-2025 06:30 PM

I like Purdy and I want to see him succeed. It gives them a lot less wiggle room though. Trent Williams seems uncertain. CMC will have question marks as well. No Deebo either and Aiyuk needs to return to form. Hopefully the 49ers will be healthy and they'll have a few successful draft picks that come through and deliver.

Williams 37 years old in a couple months. You play him this year then make him a post June 1st cut next off-season and move on.

As a Colts fan I wish they had Purdy as their QB. Probably a dozen other teams would say that too.

Amazing story

Happy for him

Tale as old as time, your qb is slightly above average but you're paying top tier QB money

To be fair he's been to more SBs than Josh Allen.

That's a more interesting conversation about slightly above average QBs.

Also, personally, if I was a fan of a player, I wouldn't put "MVP" as my avatar when he won it in arguably one of the worst races in recent memory.

If LJax didn't already have two, he probably would've won and truly it should've went to Saquon but they never consider RBs.

If I was a Niners fan? I wouldn’t like it
If I was a Niners fan? I wouldn’t hate it

I’d be super meh

So if meh is worth $265,000,000?

That’s up to you

Nothing about him or the current team screams contender to me. I don’t care what Vegas has convinced people to bet on

They won some SBs under Walsh and Seifert so I guess that makes them perennial contenders. Just like Dallas.

Pittsburgh…

Boo 05-17-2025 01:26 PM

Teams are too afraid to let average QBs walk. As I’ve said before, there are less than 10 QBs that I would pay, otherwise keep drafting until you hit one.
