The base card without the auto and card with the auto are identical.

How do I know someone didn't add the auto to the base card?

The hologram on the back is different. The unsigned card has a home plate shaped hologram. The auto version has a diamond shaped hologram.

As TBP said, those aren't pack issued autos. And a scoreboard COA is not UDA. So I guess, to answer your original question, since that is the card you are referring to, you can tell if someone added an auto to a base card if it has an auto on it. :)!

But for reference, all upper deck heroes autos have a diamond hologram, and each year has a different shape for the base cards. If it doesn't have a diamond hologram, it wasn't the legit copy. In 1990, base cards had the circle hologram (home plate for 1991, and fan shape for 1992), while autos had the diamond.
