200% Redemption Replacement
Hey guys, I’m wondering if any of you have had experience in Topps 200% redemption substitution for redemptions greater than six months old.
I took advantage of this for the first time and feel like I’ve been significantly under compensated. My substitution: 2x 2023 Ginter De Niro Black Frames Autos /25. - Only remotely similar comp is a Red Ink sale of $2,500 in October 2025. What I’m receiving (Topps already shipped the cards and they didn’t contact me - I can see them when I login and check my redemptions): 2013 Ginter Pele Auto (currently one available for $1,300 OBO on eBay) 2013 Ginter AXL Rose Auto (last sold was $1,800 in PSA 9 in October 2025) Am I overreacting by going back to Topps and saying this doesn’t live up to the 200% replacement policy? I feel the De Niro’s are worth $1,500 CONSERVATIVELY each given the comp. So each one should be at least $3k in 200%. So a total of $6k (again, conservatively). But I’m receiving a total of $3k in substitutions IMO. Look, I’m not looking to milk every penny. But it’s their policy and I don’t feel like they’re holding up to that. What are your thoughts? Am I right to push back on this? And has anyone had any experience with this policy? |
I can't comment right now on how they valued your De Niros and the value of what they sent, but to send you replacement cards without even letting you know what they were before shipping them is BS.
Even if they decided the De Niro's are only worth $1k each...like if they determined /25's are worth 40% of /10's (10/25 = .4), that means you should have received ~$4k in cards in return, but you only seem to have received around $3k at best. Definitely would reach back out to them and be all WTF. |

I had no idea this existed. How does it work exactly? I have a Randy Orton auto I've been waiting for since Chrome released and I think I'd be interested in doing this as it's been past 6 months
|
Maybe they sent replacement for one and not both? I would definitely call them.

Is there any event where my redeemed card might be substituted for a different card? Yes, Topps offers two options for voluntary substitutions as follows: • Voluntary Substitutions After 15 weeks. If the completed card is not available in 15 weeks and you have not previously received a substitution for this card, you may request a substitution which will be equal to current market value of the redeemed card as determined by Topps. • Voluntary Substitutions After 6 Months. If a completed card is not available and you have not previously received a substitution for this card after 6 months, then you may request a substitution and Topps will provide substitute card(s) or Topps.com credit valued at 200% of current market value of the redeemed card as determined by Topps. Please note that Topps reserves the right in its discretion to deny a substitution request at any time based on the status of your redemption card due to you. This includes substitution requests made through the consumer’s redemption account on Topps.com, which may be reversed. For example, Topps may deny your substitution request because Topps believes your completed card may be available soon such that your substitution is no longer necessary. In addition, Topps maintains the right in its discretion to substitute new card(s) if the card you are submitting the redemption for cannot be completed and Topps determines it is to be “uncirculated”. But I got on chat and told them I wanted a replacement at this point. And the guy on informed me about it proactively. So I read about it and sure enough it’s a policy for redemptions over 6 months old (there’s obviously some all print involved). But that’s where I am now. Was told 200% and this seems rather off. |

No because both my redemptions have disappeared from my open redemptions. |

No harm in trying to contact them to see what can be worked out.
|
I wish I had waited to accept the alternate for my topps heritage Reggie Jackson / Rollie Fingers / Vida Blue triple autograph. I got maybe 1/5 the value in my replacement.
Such a kick in the junk. Especially since I wanted to keep the triple auto for the collection. |

I contacted them. They basically told me what they did (that they exchanged it for the value based on their research). They are going to escalate it though. I'm supposed to hear back within 14 days. The more I think I about it the more I definitely feel like I'm being taken. As it stands they're essentially comping the De Niro at $750. Which is way under the correct value. If one of those hit Ebay for $750 someone would buy it and immediately flip it for at least double.

Better get Prob on the case to boost some values.
|
Panini was better with replacements. You got worse cards and also got shafted on the value.
|
Ugh. I just requested a sub for the De Niro as well, so it's really a bummer to hear how they comped these. There were plenty of sales well over $750 for this redemption card from 2 years back, so it's curious they ended up at that value. I imagine I'll end up with something comparable when mine shows up in a few weeks. Good luck in getting some traction on this.

The small print says that it's the 'current market' of the card. What it sold for 2 years ago is irrelevant. In fact, I think I paid $900 and $1,100 for the two redemptions. So the fact that there's an /10 comp at $2,500, the comp on the /25 card 100% places it in the $1250-1500 range on the /25. I'm going to fight this one. The 200% on this card should absolutely be in the $2500-3000 range. |
If someone put one of these for sale on ebay right now- or the redemption- I'm sure someone will pay $3k to raise the comps.
Maybe someone should list a redemption and sell it to raise the comps lol. |
Maybe it’s only for one card??? Maybe the rest haven’t shipped yet?

Anything better than break even on a redemption replacement is a win, regardless of what they promise. But squeaky wheel gets the grease -- good luck!

Everyone knows to sell redemptions.

It's gotta suck for Topps to do valuations knowing damn well the massive shilling racket going on. |

Yeah. That's why I said I wish I had waited. Had I known that was going to become a thing I woulda waited. |
I'd take Axl and Pele any day. Rose will probably never do another auto deal with them (he was a pain and it involved reprinting the cards more than once) and Pele ain't signing.

Is this a common occurrence? I would've thought that once those cards are printed, if they get signed or not, that's it... |
