Nice move by the Nats to lock up their franchise player. |
For years, I've always wanted Boston to get him, seemed like he'd be great there, oh well. Washington is getting real close to being a great team.

Will be interesting to see what they do with Rendon in a couple of years. My guess is that Zimmerman moves to 1st and Rendon stays at 3rd.

Rendon is going to be trade bait, at least for now. Morse is good at 1st, for now, at least. If he doesn't become the answer at 1st, then Rendon will be at 3rd in a heartbeat. |
Rendon could move to SS, because Desmond isn't the answer.

Stras should play SS on days he doesn't pitch.

Very true. But, they have Lombardozzi, who could play 2nd while Espinosa plays SS. Rendon might not be a long-term factor for the Nats. |
Rendon could move to SS, because Desmond isn't the answer.
I don't think this makes sense at all. Long term since they are obligated to Zimmerman it makes the most sense to slide him to 1st and keep Rendon at 3rd when he is ready (unless they were to get some crazy offer). He plays + defense, gives + offense, what's not to love. Morse is not the answer long term for the Nationals at anything, and I would expect his numbers to definitely regress this year. Having Rendon learn a new position just makes no sense, it delays the time it takes for him to arrive and exposes him to a greater injury risk especially at SS or 2nd base. |
Another nice move for the nats, they should be playing good ball very soon
