Thoughts on a Non-Sport box?

I haven't bought any non-sport cards in years, and have never bought a full box. However, I've seen how nice some of these sets are becoming and am thinking of trying a box. I would be interested in something with decent chances at some nice autographs. I realize there are a lot of choices for that, but I would want something with a nice auto. checklist where even the big name actors, etc. signed for the set. I would like to spend under $100. Any suggestions? Thanks, in advance, for your help.

if autos are your thing and you aren't trying to break the bank, i'd try heroes vol 1 or transformers. With your budget you could get multiple boxes as Heroes 1 boxes are about $30 each and transformers are about $20 each.

Heroes' autos are 1:135 packs, but most are decent hits.

Transformers only has one auto -- and a tough pull as it's one in every two cases -- but it's Megan Fox!

The new Wolverine: Origins set has a lot of nice actors in it, they run around $60/box. 2 hits per box, either autos, memorabilia, or sketches.

There are plenty of sets that offer one auto per box, but naturally all the real big names are hard to come by no matter what product you bust.

for what it's worth, i'd stay away from anything new that is Rittenhouse, as the price will come down. Just my .02.

For autos I think the best bet would be Rittenhouse Archives James Bond Archives, 2 autos and 2 costume cards per box and there are quite a few very good autos: Famke Janssen, Olga Kurylenko, Roger Moore, Honor Blackman, Izabella Scorupco, John Cleese...

Boxes are quite reasonable in the low 50's

These are exactly the kind of responses I'm looking for...thanks guys! As I was searching BO, I noticed the Star Wars Evolution Update boxes. They mention autographs, too. Anyone have any thoughts on these or other products that have not yet been mentioned?

I think SW Evolution has one auto per box, but there are a lot of smaller actors in it.

I agree with Incarnadine, James Bond Archives provides 4 hits (2 autos and 2 costumes) for a relatively low box price. Good upside potential on the autographs mentioned, not to mention a James Bond Tie card # /250 that goes for around $100 also. Another good non-sport buy for autos may be Razor Ink Archives to be released late May. 5 packs/box, 1 auto/pack from Inkworks past releases.

These suggestions sound great so far! I checked out the Razor Ink Archives Info. at it seems pretty nice. I like the idea behind the product. Other thoughts?
the new star trek
Ditto. Early reviews are saying this film is gonna be huge. Might all by hype, but if the film is a hit, those box prices will go up a bit.

Tim 05-06-2009 03:46 PM

Iron Man was huge too, and that product tanked. Not saying Star Trek is good or bad, but the success of a movie has very little to do with the success of a card product. See Indy Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull for exhibit b.
