these autographs look NICE. IMO i love how the athletes are holding the championship trophy,, will be a tough and pricey set and look fantastic once completed
this looks cool, but i noticed the pricepoints.
certified will be around $100, but will sellout fast due to it being the lowest price at which you are eligible for a bonus pack. wont the others require multiple boxes purchased? cool either way i guess. EDIT - nevermind. looks like you are paying for the pack too in a way... im going to go ahead and not buy a $100 box of Timeless Treasures or Past & Present for a shot at a nice bonus. the checklist isnt horrible, but this is kind of whack. |
Can anyone please copy and paste the checklist? I can't get it to open

2013 iCollectPanini.com NBA Finals Set

so it looks like we have 74 total possibilities (and that is only if collation is equal, which im sure it's not)
how many make up for paying an extra $20-30+ for a box? i'd only be happy if i pulled one of these: Base Set - Private Signings 1 Bill Russell Boston Celtics 2 Bill Walton Boston Celtics 3 Bob Cousy Boston Celtics 7 Larry Bird Boston Celtics 13 Dennis Rodman Chicago Bulls 17 Scottie Pippen Chicago Bulls 30 Hakeem Olajuwon Houston Rockets 36 Jerry West Los Angeles Lakers 37 Kareem Abdul-Jabbar Los Angeles Lakers 38 Kobe Bryant Los Angeles Lakers 39 Magic Johnson Los Angeles Lakers 45 Dwyane Wade Miami Heat 46 Kareem Abdul-Jabbar Milwaukee Bucks 49 Kevin Durant Oklahoma City Thunder 51 Allen Iverson Philadelphia 76ers 52 Julius Erving Philadelphia 76ers 55 Bill Walton Portland Trail Blazers 56 David Robinson San Antonio Spurs 59 John Stockton Utah Jazz Card Set - Rookie 1 Kyrie Irving Cleveland Cavaliers 2 Anthony Davis New Orleans Hornets 3 Michael Kidd-Gilchrist Charlotte Bobcats 6 Harrison Barnes Golden State Warriors 8 Kenneth Faried Denver Nuggets Card Set - Diamond Cards 3 LeBron James Miami Heat 5 Tim Duncan San Antonio Spurs 6 Dwyane Wade Miami Heat 7 Damian Lillard Portland Trail Blazers so that is 27 that i would be "happy" about getting - the others, while there are some cool players, can just be had too cheaply. even some of the players i listed will be readily available for less than the cost difference between buying boxes there and somewhere - anywhere - else. also, we know the rookies and diamonds are almost certain to not be as common as the private signings. i just dont see the value in this promotion. i guess "buy a box of something you probably wouldnt otherwise want, and that will allow you to purchase a $30 one card pack and it will probably be john salley" wasnt a very catchy promo name. |
I think this is a cool idea by Panini, they've been getting better and smarter about their promo department. Now they just need to get a whole let better in their design department.
There are going to be a bunch of them that are low numbered like football. Out of 1, 3, 5, 10, etc. I can see some people trying to complete the set. Overseas buyers are going to want them too. Good luck to all.
You do notice that when you go to the website the only boxes that are "In Stock" that are part of the promotion are 2012-13 Timeless Treasures ($100), 2012-13 Past and Present ($100) and 2012-13 Contenders ($120)...
2012-13 Limited and 11-12 Certified (not even shown on the site) are both out of stock. So either way you look at it you are paying $20-$30 mark up on the boxes to get a shot at one of these packs... not bad if you get the right card, but definitely not a sure thing... But I bet I try it anyways, lol. Out of the three products available contenders is the obvious choice. It just sucks that at the $120 price point, you would have to buy 5 boxes to make it an even $100 number. |
bought the tiemless treasures one... hahah ... :)!
Bought a past and present
I tried to get in on this. The price on the TC was actually kinda low. I went to add it to my cart maybe 3 minutes after they sent out the e-mail and it was already sold out. No way I'm buying any of that other stuff. Not only are they $25-$35 more than anywhere else, they're crappy products that were already hard to get a good ROI when they were $70.
I was thinking of doing a box of limited but I see its like $25 more than BO. I don't think it would be worth it though. I'm torn.
The football promo had the same concerns. There were some less than desireable players but there were also some really nice ones with low print runs. Unopened promo boxes sold well. Even at $100 for some of the boxes people were still coming out ahead. You can't get hurt too bad. Even if you open your promo box and get a $30-$50 hit your only into the box you bought for $50-$70 and who knows what you hit in those. It's the same risk as buying a "discounted" box of these products from BO and you aren't getting the promo pack. I was able to get 3 boxes of Limited but not sure what I'll do with the promo packs.
I'd rather just buy some of the promo packs for $30 instead. Tough to break even on those boxes.
the only one id really consider would be limited.
i think the Lights Out gu set is one of the best jersey sets Panini has ever done, and i like the rookie auto design. Limited was not the worst. but honestly i cannot buy as much wax as some, and when i do i cant do it just for the hell of taking part in a promotion if that means paying like 30% more. id prefer to save the money and put it towards another box of Select at blowout prices. |
I think when these went live the promo packs were selling for $100-$150 by themselves. Not sure what they dropped to after the initial wave of buyers.
These will be on eBay in a few days, I would rather pay $25-30 for a pack instead of paying $100 for crap like Timeless Treasures. If Panini actually sold these at current market prices I would buy from them, but at the prices they have, hell no!
Good luck getting a promo pack for $30
I bought some.
No way these promo packs will be at $30 for a guaranteed autograph with possibility of a huge star, legend ... or an auto patch ... or the 1/1 diamond cards! |
This is a win-win promo. The packs will sell unopened for at least $70. Trust me those packs will get good money.

true story! untill the 1/1 lebron gets pulled.. |
12-13 limited is back in stock get em
I said screw it and got one limited. I liked last years set, so for $100 plus the bonus pack...might as well. No tax and free shipping too!!!
I'd be paying close to that at my LCS plus tax so I'm taking a gamble :) |
:eek::eek: I would kill for that Ray Allen auto! Wish I had the money haha.
