Will there (in the foreseeable future) be a player as dominant as Shaq was?

I know guys like Jordan, LeBron, Kobe are and have been considered to be incredibly dominant players, but I honestly don't think anyone (in the modern era) has been quite as dominant as prime Shaq. His size and ability was enough to take over any game and nobody could ever really match up well against him or slow him down. My question is, do you think we'll soon (or ever) see a player as physically dominant and near unstoppable as Shaq?

McGee, Javale McGee

greetl01 08-31-2013 08:18 PM

Hibbert of course. he's bulked up in the off season and is improving his game. Already got the stamp of approval from Shaq himself.

No way, the game is too different. In a good way though, god it pissed me off to see him throw his entire weight into somebody while posted up and then they get called for a foul.

ASAPPORKY 08-31-2013 08:25 PM

Not anytime soon. Sorry but Mcgee, Hibbert or whoever you guys name will never be what Shaq was.

The center position as a whole has declined in the new era of NBA for whatever reason.
The 90's were dominated by great big men like Shaq, Dream, Ewing, Zo, Admiral, Mutombo, etc. This era of NBA is dominated mostly from the 2-3 position.

SportsItUpCards 08-31-2013 08:31 PM

We probably won't see another Shaq anytime soon..... We never had a comparison of him all the years he was playing, and there currently isn't one now......... Yet? Ever? I'm pretty sure one will come at some point. But if we haven't seen one in all these years, then chances are we won't for quite some time. And please do not say Howard or I will throw up right on you. Smh

NO!

Never!

Yes and no...

DOMINANT centers only come up every once in a while. We will probably see a couple great ones before another dominant one. Mikan-------Wilt-----Kareem (Kinda)-------Shaq. In between we have many great centers like Russell, Lanier, Reed, M. Malone, Hayes, Ewing, Olajuwon, Robinson, Howard, etc. but none dominated quite like the rest. With the lack of post skills in today's bigs, all it takes is a great athlete (Howard, McGee, Drummond) who is willing to learn everything he can to better himself (none).

Rhyster66 08-31-2013 10:09 PM

Drummond has a small chance.

GoldenBoy23 08-31-2013 10:14 PM

Shaq is fit those rookie year times. And can post fake mj anytime. Shaq also said if hes been in shape thru the years it would have monster stats and many rings for him. I dont see any other player close as dominating as shaq. Amare is one but gone the other way.

Olajuwon owned him. Ask Shaq, he'll tell you himself.

GC1980 08-31-2013 11:14 PM

No, nothing glorious about posting up anymore so all these bugs want to shoot threes. Seriously tho, I don't think we will see one for a long time. The late 80s early 90s were a golden age for post play.

Have to disagree with saying Kareem as kinda... Dude was a beast and supremely skilled.

Who knows... Maybe Shaq would say that out of respect. But is it true? No.

C'mon man...that is completely idiotic...Drummond has zero chance
