I know this is considered vintage but how.....?
From the pics it looks legit, did he make his own cases? I know it says REPRINT, but if the seller didn't say that how many people would it fool?

I could see this kind of stuff at card shows flooding the market.....

I looked the cert up on PSA's website and it came up "cert not found", all he would have to do is buy a legit mantle, crack it and use the cert.

Answer to your question is probably yes, unfortunately people assume just because a card comes in a nice PSA case it must be real. However, with the introduction of 3D printers you can make hundreds of PSA holders for penny's on the dollar. Where in the past you would need to create a mold and then have the manufacturing to produce the molds. Now the guy next door can buy a 3d printer, print holder's all day long then make fake labels with your average laser printer and insert fake cards and pass them off as real. This has been going on longer then most would imagine, it just has now become far easier with the 3D printer. Also thanks to the PSA registry/ and Ebay the scammer can look up say a 52 mantle PSA 2 find its registry # and put it on his fake card. And as long as the two cards are not in the same room or for sale at the same time no one is the wiser. So the moral of the story is that when there is a lot of money involved for something man created, it will be recreated and people will be fooled. Nothing can really be done to stop it, but that should just remind us that this is a HOBBY and not a retirement plan.

This has trouble written ALL over it. I've been keeping an eye out for a **relatively** affordable Mantle to put in my collection, but this makes me not even want to touch one.

It's like a superpower tool, in the wrong hands, deadly. It'd be cool to show your buddies or to chicks, but not for that much.
