SGC Cert# 3882643
Card: 1933 Goudey, #160 Lou Gehrig.
Alterations: Cleaned, corners worked.
- Yellow circles are the common print marks/flaws between both cards.
- Blue boxes show the stains removed on the front and back of the card.
- Red boxes show the corners visibly altered and reformed.
I stumbled upon this card by accident while following the trail of another card doctor. I almost didn’t click on the VCP listing because I figured that surely it had already been posted. Turns out this is the 3rd 1933 Goudey Gehrig in this thread, along with five 1934 Goudey Gehrigs.
The four corners on this card are so radically different that it looks trimmed when you first look at it. The bottom left and right corners are completely altered, with the bottom right corner pressed down completely and the bottom left corner reformed into a nearly square 90 degree angle. The top two corners have also been cleaned as well as reformed and are no longer fuzzy.
Sold by PWCC (as a PSA 3) on December 18, 2018 for $2,424 to Moser's whitman111 account.
Description: "
When was the last time you saw a PSA 3 with such fantastic centering? The card possesses clean borders with wonderful color and print. Even corner wear and a small stain on the reverse is all that prevents a much higher grade. All told, this is a wonderful '3' which commands attention. "
Re-sold by PWCC (as an SGC 4.5) on April 9, 2019 for $4,662.99.
Description: Very well framed with four mostly square corners and coloring far brighter than is typical for the issue. Extremely clean and bright throughout with only even peripheral wear and a subtle bump to the upper left point downgrading." (
No mention of staining.)
