Default 1909 E95 Phila. Caramel, Honus Wagner

PSA Cert# 41383463

Card: 1909 E95 Philadelphia Caramel, Honus Wagner.

Alterations: Bleached, damaged.
  • Yellow circles are the common print marks/flaws between both cards.
  • Blue boxes show the attempted removal of stains on the front of the card.
  • Red boxes show the damage caused by cleaning.

This card is yet another horror story on the dangers of bleaching. Purchased as a PSA 3 with vibrant yellow colors and minor staining on the front and back, it was improperly cleaned and resulted in significant loss of vibrancy to the yellow background and image area. The most obvious damage is to the lower left of the card's front, where a minor light brown stain darkened into an unsightly black blemish. A nice card ruined by "conservation."

Sold by Robert Edward Auctions (as a PSA 3) on April 13, 2018 for $3,000 to an unknown buyer.

Then sold by PWCC (as a PSA 2.5) on September 9, 2018 for $2,364.

Loss: $636
