1997 and 1998 were beautiful years for the hobby. Probably my nostalgia talking, but I'd probably rate them #1 and #2 all-time as far as quality, innovation, and fun for collecting.

And it looks like Upper Deck really took things to next level in 98 with their Quantum /25's. I might have to pick up some of those some day.

I feel you in the search for /100's. It's been almost four years and just this week I found my 45th out 50 2005 Topps Chrome "Golden Anniversary" refractor (Michael Strahan). Who knows how long it will be before I can find the last five listed in my signature. But hey, chasing long-forgotten inserts is way more fulfilling than rushing from overpriced, over-hyped rookie to overpriced, over-hyped rookie—right?
