And yet another altered '33 Goudey Ruth...

1933 Goudey #53 Babe Ruth PSA 3 to SGC 4
Alteration types: Bleaching damage and creases pressed out
Set Registry status: N/A

Sold on 10/18/2015 by Robert Edward Auctioins to an unknown buyer for $3,600.00
Consigned to PWCC and sold on 6/10/2019 as a SGC 4 for $8,100.00
Final price: $8,100.00
Value gain: $4,500.00

This classic '33 Goudey #53 Babe Ruth card has had creases pressed out of its front and back (see pink arrows on PSA 3 and compare to SGC 4) and suffered damage to its reverse due to caustic whitening chemicals (see red boxes around the words 'LEAGUE' and 'GUM' on back). There were no publicly recorded sales of the PSA 3 after the REA auction of 10/18/2015 and no publicly recorded sales of the SGC 4 prior to the 6/10/2019 PWCC sale. It would be interesting to see who purchased the card from REA. That could go a long way in solving the mystery of the card doctor's identity.
