Ironically this behavior can be an early sign of a market crash when you look at equities, commodities, real estate, etc.
Why? When sellers dry up it can create a negatively reinforcing cycle of ever further price erosion.
It has to do with the large overlap between buyers and sellers (ie sellers are also buyers). A seller’s unwillingness to take a loss means they also are unwilling to be a buyer and that takes huge buyer volume out of markets.
As a buyer, you should rejoice and just pick the few things up that come to market. Means we will have less competition
