Agreed that he is a great player and his HOF place is deserved. I am talking about the card being iconic. The image is poor and 1990 Topps sucked. The card is iconic because it is a great player and the NNOF factor. The Gooden and Mattingly are other examples of iconic cards. Those players overall career were not what Frank Thomas career was. For you to think I referred to Frank Thomas as a bust is so far from reality that I needed to make sure I corrected it.

I see this as a card being in the project more than a player being in the project. I realize the player makes the card, but I think most understand my point. There were greater players than Gooden and Mattingly that could have been included but those cards were iconic. Those were huge when they came out. I remember them well. From my recollection, 1983 was when Rookie Cards started to make the largest growth. 1984 and 1985 they were all the chase. I am looking at this set from a collectors point more than an artist point. That is why I like Airplane Don's posts so much. He sees all the things I miss from looking at it from a different light.
