Got my grades from my Bulk Modern submission which was sent in Sep 2020 and entered in Dec 20. Was in QA1 and 2 for about 6 weeks. It probably took so long as they were working out what to upcharge me on. Was initially upcharged $3900, but they tried to charge me $50 on 49 PSA 10's going on the $2700 sale a few months back. I argued that a PSA 10 recently sold for $750 and the 'Auction Prices' section on the PSA website hadn't been updated. They knocked the charge down by $30 per card, which was fair. They also knocked a $200 upcharge for a card down to $75, so overall I had to pay an extra $2500 in upcharges. I don't agree with it, but I'm just relieved that the grades matched to near enough what I expected. I was hoping for $210000 in return value from the submission and I ended up getting around $200000 worth of graded cards which I'm satisfied with.
I didn't send my best cards on purpose as I anticipated that they would downgrade them. I sent mainly stickers which were slightly off-centered, going for PSA 9's. I did send in 80 of the same card in the hope that they would grade them 10's as I've previously achieved 4 PSA 10's of the same card from a past submission and knew that it's a well made card, which is easy to grade.
Overall, I got the following grades after submitting 211 cards:
PSA 10 - 64
PSA 9 - 99 (3 PSA 9 OC)
PSA 8 - 36
PSA 7 - 2
PSA 6 - 8 (7 stickers and 1 card)
N8 - 2
I will use PSA again for another Bulk submission.
I have noticed an excess of PSA 9 and 8's. I sent 4 of the same sticker and ended up getting all 8's instead of 9's that I expected. I also got an 8 on another sticker from the same set, so I'm guessing it was the centering.
I mainly got 10's on the less valuable cards and 9's on the more valuable one's.
It's worth querying the upcharge if you have evidence that the card/s has decreased in value.
