Agree 100% that the recent rate of success hasn't been very good with imported players I just gotta figure that streak may end soon especially as each relative "failure" brings down expectations for the next one and he has all the tools so why not now...

It’s a different brand of baseball and I just don’t think it will ever translate 1:1. They aren’t playing against MLB pitchers and I think the Japanese pitchers tend to be around the strike zone a lot more with less velocity. Tyler Austin, Jefry Marte, Dayan Viciedo, Jerry Sands, Neftali Soto and Domingo Santana were all top 10-20 hitters in Japan last year and I don’t expect to ever see any of those guys in MLB again.
Also it sounds like he hasn’t officially signed with SD or made any decisions yet.
