I've noticed this more now, and it makes me think twice before offering on a card that I really want and there's only one or two listed. My theory as to why sellers do this:

-Seller's attention is brought to the card with the offer, maybe looks at what else is available, and if they are the only one, or lowest, they raise prices accordingly.

-Seller knows you are interested in the card, by sending an offer you are displaying interest, thus they feel they have the upper hand in the situation and may increase price.

-To be vindictive or petty, annoyed by a buyer offering too low.

Just something I keep in mind now before sending offers on a card I really want.
