This is a factor of a million things, but one of them is that Topps got bought out at the peak of hype, and Fanatics is scurrying to figure how to make this, now very large, part of their business long term profitable. IE, they bought Bellinger (or substitute like player) at Peak, and now are still trying to turn a profit off what they bought.
A year ago, this would have been offered at $149.99, I'm confident of that. Topps/Fanatics is trying to find the spot where they can still get mass buy in directly. This hobby will still look much different in 5 years, and I cant nor wont predict which direction it will go anymore, because it could go a million different ways.

Not as silly as a $1000 2-card pack of 2019-20 Panini One and One Basketball Hobby.
