sometimes it's best to go way outside of the USA and basketball mad enviroments to gauge true appeal/reach of the biggest megastars, and in say, the UK for example, if you asked a total random on the street to name three basketball players they would struggle.

Jordan would be the one certainty.
Some people might also mention Lebron James.
a tiny few might mention Scottie Pippen, Shaq, kobe or Dennis Rodman.
