There's something funny about this whole thing considering the NBA has no problem blasting songs glorifying "opps" and "shooters" during warmups, and even during games. Why is that entire "culture" never called in to question? I say this as someone who grew up listening to Nas, DMX, Guru, Jedi Mind, Big L, Wu-Tang, etc. I know there's more to it than just the lyrics, but my point still stands. The most popular and heavily pushed music genre glorifies gang violence, greed, drug use, and misogyny and it's targeted directly at Ja's demographic. Big shock, Ja, who assumedly has listened to that music his whole life, wants to larp as a gangster. Not saying he's blameless in this situation at all but I guarantee there's a ton of NBA players who do the same kind of things they just aren't goofy enough to put it on IG. I guess I just wish there was more nuance when it comes to this discussion, there's never any "why's he acting like that and why is it that that behavior has been glorified to a large extent" instead it's just "he's an idiot for acting like that and he should be severely punished" like he's a dog who s*** in the house or something. I guess expecting anything resembling nuance in this fake, reactionary, and hyper-negative social media hellscape was my first mistake.
Also lol at people saying "Adam Silver seems really upset about this" like that vampiric mf has his own opinions, a soul, or any type of concern for the players besides how much money can be squeezed out of them before their knees give out. His only "concern" regarding this situation is due to the fact that it will result in him having to pretend to be human in front of the cameras to give a canned statement before slinking back to his gold-plated mausoleum.
