It is certainly sad to watch all of these college rivalries go to crap and disappear. Sure, The schools are getting more money from their TV contracts, but they’re going to reduce engagement with their alumni. I am a big 12 alumni. Given the realignment, there are a few games that I really care about anymore. If you are an alumnus from Missouri, Nebraska, Texas A&M, do you really feel better? Sure, your team has more money, but I just don’t see them being relevant at all in their conferences. Does anybody really see them competing for a championship in any major college sport anytime soon? While the conference is clearly weaker without Texas and Oklahoma, big 12 leadership has done a hell of a job maintaining relevance for the conference. We’ll see how Oklahoma in Texas enjoy being in the SEC. Something tells me they will regret that decision longer-term
