The construction is a mess.
Mitchell is great, but he's a square peg in a round hole here.
Go back to 2021-22 when this team first broke out and you have a great construction to develop a guy like Mobley. He shot 51% on 12 shots a game, which is pretty good for a rookie. Much of the offense centered around dribble penetration from our point guard who was a distributor first.
Then the next season we add a guy who leads the team in usage and fires up 10 3s a game, followed by adding another guy that's been throwing up 12 a game so far this year. The biggest sin of the Cavs 2022-23 season was that Mobley's shot attempts were flat, and actually down on a per minute basis (even though his shooting % when up to 55%). He's not making the leap we all hoped, but JB is not helping him either and it's frustrating to see.
