Double ankle injury. Not to worry, he got on the floor and took reps in practice today, but looks like it will be a few more weeks.
Personality wise, he is always trying to position others to succeed. Not to say he couldn't take the mantle.
Double A's earned a reputation where he could take that mantle and the Pacers are in a funny spot where they have achieved near greatness recently and sputtered without him. So that strengthens his hand in a way that wouldn't have occurred if the Pacers had cruised on as a top team under Haliburton and Siakam's leadership alone. None of this actually should surprise anyone who has been watching his progress or reading my stuff.
Pacers don't have the cap space to pull in another star, muddy the mix. The new reffing allowing physicality favors Nesmith's game. And the team is not out, in tank mode—they are 10-15, but so is half the East. Nesmith will have fresh legs when he finally comes back and be gunning. What I like about him is he rarely makes the same mistake twice.
SO that's the kind of meta data I would be looking at with any athlete, when deciding whether or not to invest. It's almost too late with Double A, all the Flawless patches on the Bay are wrong, and who wants non GU, but it's not super expensive. And now is the moment.
