I'm thinking about how I'd explain the card to someone who knew nothing about baseball:
Years ago there was this middling player, and he had a baseball card. It wouldn't have been worth anything except one of his teammates wrote an insult containing the F Word on the bat he was holding in his picture, and no one caught it before it got printed.
Oh, okay, that's kind of funny.
Then the manufacturers tried to fix it once they realized it, so there were several different variations of the card with different attempts to censor it.
Okay. So some versions were more valuable.
Yeah, different versions became sought after. It still has some notoriety even though the player never became famous.
Okay.
So thirty-something years later, the same manufacturer ran a similar gimmick with another player.
Nice, was it the first guy's son?
No, just another guy on the same team who stood kind of the same way.
Oh, gotcha.
Except this time, it said Fun Face.
Okay. Is the new guy really good or something?
He could be. He has a lot of potential even though he was awful last year. Oh, and then they cut the piece of the bat that says Fun Face and put it on a card.
Okay.
It says Fun Face. It's hilarious.
Okay.
