Some slots go unsold, some sell for below $10, some sell for $50-$100. The big names can get you much more. They might gripe a bit, but they could still buy at $2k a case.

One way we know this is that while you see individual collectors and sellers complain about wax prices daily here, you don’t hear a peep out of established breakers. They are absolutely raking in money hand over fist right now.
$2k for a case? That's a given. Years where there are good rookies they could probably get $5k or more.
