Trout was amazing for a 8 yr stretch. He hasnt been relevant to any ATG conversation for a while. Yes injuries are part of it, but we gave seen many players sign huge deals and the. A falling off happens.
Since 2020 his WAR:
1.8
1.9
6.1
2.9
1.1
1.3
Highest MVP finish since 2020 is 8th. He’s literally limping into career milestones and is a shell of his former greatness. When people are hoping for him playing 120 games, that says something. He went from titanium to styrofoam overnight it seems physically. He can’t help the injuries, of course. Best player in the game hands down 2012-2020. Since then, a tragic case of “what could have been”.
His career conversations will always be ended with “he could have finished with X HR, X this or that if it weren’t for those injuries”.

Still, a 1st ballot HOF.

His numbers basically mirror late career Pujols at this point with many more strikeouts and Pujols ended up with unhappy Angels fans and negative WAR in most his finals seasons. The speed is gone, the walks are good but not much he does from here on out will get people excited about him these days. If he does put up some more counting stats you can put him in the Mickey Mantle, Griffey Jr.--they were great but what could they have been if never injured category.
