When the Bears got Mack, they immediately won the North and were a playoff team. He made a difference. But he was also a year removed from winning D Player of the year. And not finishing in 20th place, like Parsons. The Bears also didnt give up a good starting player either. The Bears also regretted it, as losing those 2 1st round picks hurt. And they had to dump Mack and rebuild. Which might happen here as well. Its all risk.
I dont agree with you crowing about him getting D POTY votes, for playing in 4 fewer games. He got 2 votes, just to be clear. Two.
Surtain got 320. Hendrickson 203. Garrett 157. Watt 111. Parson, 2... Two votes for the best D player, and is now the highest paid defender in league history. The highest paid non-QB to be exact. Two votes as the best.

Looking back on Mack, yeah, it was a mistake bc we didn't win the SB. But I believe that 2018 team (double-doink year) was good enough to win the SB. The D was SB-caliber and Mitch was pretty good at managing the offense.
For the NFCN though, this year will be the most difficult bc the Packers are definitely better. The financial/draft repercussions won't set it until this season is over.
