I would think a new Superman set with original artwork would get some more buzz and enthusiasm, but I guess not. It's not like there has been Superman sets getting released for years now, like with Spiderman. This is a pretty unique release.

Maybe the comic book trading card market just isn't what it was a few years ago -- not much interest in it anymore? Pokemon and Pikachu are getting most of the attention now?
Broke record, on repeat, but...

DC cards aren't Marvel cards. That's where it starts and I guess only time will tell if that's where it ends. Comic book numbers and movie ticket sales just don't seem to add up to DC automatically doing well.

With that said, my opinion on the set will depend on a better look at a finalized checklist, plus a better look at all the art. I'm going to assume the checklist will be pretty weak, filled with characters nobody knows/asked for/wants.

The positives, from this tiny preview...OA. Some legacy inserts, which is great.

In the end, DC just has an uphill battle, no matter how you look at it. That's why I keep harping on UD for not using the FULL checklist of characters in all these upfront sets. Once you build a customer base, fine, go with Batman or Superman only sets. Upfront it makes the opposite of sense.

Lastly, just like MOST non-sport sets, there WILL be cards that sell for a ton...probably mostly of Superman. Just like the Batman Metal set will have some cards that sell for a ton. They'll both suffer from bloated checklists, probably. Again, IMHO
