A couple of months ago I picked up most of a 1971 Topps set in mainly VG condition. Most of the big cards were gone (did have a Hank Aaron though) but it didn't bother me in the slightest because the set had all the high numbers.
Like you,I live in a rural area and this was a local purchase from one of those shops that re-sells items from storage unit and collection buys and stuff like that.
