I believe Hosmer will be the better overall player. He displays the ability to hit for power, average & the ability to get on base with a patient approach at the plate. He also can add value in terms of speed on the base paths & defense at first. Lawrie really have a position, and doesn't have quite as patient of an approach as Hosmer. Hosmer also plays in the AL Central which is definitely not as strong as the AL East.
