If you do not count your labor as worth anything per hour, Topps series 1, series 2 and update are consistent moneymakers the first week or so upon release. So basically, you just missed the boat on 2012 Update. It is alot of work and if you do not enjoy sorting and scanning thousands of cards, the modest profit you make will not be worth it.

The latest trend though in cases that appreciate in value without opening has been Topps products that were a dud the year before. So, if you have some friends in the distributor world who can give you real data about pre-orders, you can pretty much peg what products are loaded. It seems like there are a set number of hits that doesn't change and Topps will just increase or decrease how watered down the product will be with base cards depending on how many pre-orders there are. I think this is why we never get stated pack odds until the product actually hits the market.

If you plan on ripping and flipping any medium to high end products, you will, WITHOUT ANY DOUBT, lose money.
