Kylo is one of the Solo kids. Luke was training him to be a jedi and he became infatuated with Vader and left for the Ren. Luke feels he failed and can't come to grips with it. The other Solo kid will reluctantly embrace the force after someone dies (Luke or Leia or Han) and face Kylo in the end.
